Location: Lithuania (hybrid)
Commitment: 0.5 FTE (20 hours/week), availability spread across the week. Must be reachable during business hours for regulatory matters.
Compensation: €60,000/year pro-rata for 0.5 FTE (20h/week) + performance bonus
Start: Paid advisory role immediately, transitioning to Managing Director upon license acquisition (expected end of 2026)

Curvo UAB, our Lithuanian entity, is applying for a Category B financial brokerage firm licence with the Bank of Lithuania. The licence scope covers:
- Reception and transmission of orders
- Portfolio management
- Investment advice
- Safekeeping and administration of financial instruments
- Foreign-exchange services related to investment services
- Investment research, financial analysis, general recommendations
We're looking for a Managing Director to lead the regulated operations of Curvo UAB alongside co-founders Yoran Brondsema and Thomas Ketchell. As Managing Director, you will provide senior management substance in Lithuania: maintaining a physical presence, documenting oversight and decision-making, and being available for Bank of Lithuania queries.
The role
We need an experienced financial services leader who can own the regulatory and operational governance of our Lithuanian brokerage entity.
Pre-license (paid advisory, starting immediately)
Concrete deliverables during this phase:
- Readiness gap assessment: Evaluate current policies, procedures, and controls against BoL Category B requirements and identify gaps.
- Operating model and RACI: Define the governance structure, roles, and decision-making framework for the regulated entity.
- Key policies and controls implementation: Draft and implement critical compliance, risk management, and operational policies required for the licence.
- BoL meeting preparation and responses: Attend Bank of Lithuania meetings alongside the co-founders. Prepare submissions and respond to BoL queries.
Post-license (Managing Director, 0.5 FTE)
Governance and effective management
- Act as a member of the management body responsible for sound and prudent management of Curvo UAB.
- Ensure governance arrangements, internal controls, and decision-making processes meet BoL standards.
Regulatory oversight and BoL interaction
- Serve as the primary point of contact with the Bank of Lithuania.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with licence conditions and manage regulatory reporting obligations.
Prudential and capital oversight
- Monitor the firm’s prudential position and capital adequacy in line with Category B requirements.
Client protection
- Ensure all regulated activities (portfolio management, investment advice, reception and transmission of orders) are conducted to the required standard and in clients’ best interests.
Risk management
- Own the risk framework for brokerage activities. Work closely with our Compliance Officer and MLRO.
Outsourcing and vendor oversight
- Oversee material outsourcing arrangements and third-party service providers in line with regulatory expectations.
You won't be running product or technology. The co-founders handle that. Your focus is ensuring the brokerage operations meet the Bank of Lithuania's standards for sound and prudent management.
What we're looking for
Must have
- Management experience at a financial brokerage firm, with direct responsibility for regulated activities
- Evidence of decision-making authority and oversight within a comparable business model
- Resident in Lithuania
- Fluent in Lithuanian (for regulatory interactions) and English (company language)
Strong preference
- Experience with the Bank of Lithuania's regulatory framework
- Experience managing or setting up a Category B (or equivalent) brokerage firm
- Familiarity with MiFID II requirements
Also valuable
- Management experience at other regulated financial institutions (banks, asset managers)
- Experience in a scaling fintech environment
- Brokerage management experience in another EU jurisdiction
