Data Analytics Manager – Remote-First

We usually respond within three days

🚀 Be part of a movement to change the way Europe pays

In today’s digital world, payments often still feel outdated: random delays and confusing rules make it harder than it should be to pay and get paid. The European Payments Initiative (EPI) is here to change all that, forever.

With Wero, our digital wallet, we make sending and receiving money simple, seamless and secure across France, Belgium and Germany, with more countries and omnichannel solutions coming soon. Supported by 16 major banks and the two largest European acquirers, EPI is building a new, proudly European payment system: easy, instant and transparent, all for the greater good.

🔎 What's in it for you

Shape the future of data in a collaborative, high-calibre team that values your voice, empowers your autonomy, and champions innovation over red tape. Here, you’ll own your roadmap, influence key decisions, and see your ideas come to life in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

🐝 About the team

You’ll be part of a Pan-European Product and Engineering team that operates in an Agile environment. You’ll work closely, but fully remotely, with experts in Web Dev, Mobile Dev, Backend Dev, QA and DevOps from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Poland, and other European locations.

The sub-team you’ll be joining is made up of two Data Engineers, one Analytics Engineer, one Data Analyst, and one Backend Engineer. Finally, you will be reporting to the Head of Engineering.

💥 Your impact

Own and drive the Data Team strategy

  • Design, communicate and execute a clear data strategy aligned with EPI’s goals

  • Develop, update and own the data product roadmap

  • Advocate for a decentralized data vision (e.g. Data Mesh–inspired approaches) and educate the organisation on what this means in practice

  • Influence direction and outcomes without relying on formal authority, using persuasion, alignment and impact‑driven storytelling

Lead hands‑on delivery

  • Stay close to the work of data engineers and analysts to ensure high‑quality, pragmatic solutions

  • Act as a bridge between technical implementation, product thinking and business needs

  • Challenge assumptions and guide technical decisions without micromanaging execution

Drive project and delivery management

  • Plan and prioritise the team’s work based on capacity, impact and strategic value

  • Structure day‑to‑day work to ensure predictable delivery while protecting focus time

  • Manage ad hoc requests in a sustainable way and balance short‑term needs with long‑term goals

Shape stakeholder collaboration and requirements

  • Serve as the main interface between the Data Team and multiple stakeholders across the organisation

  • Set clear boundaries and collaboration models to avoid unstructured, disruptive requests

  • Help stakeholders clarify their needs and translate them into actionable, well‑defined data and product requirements

Lead people and enable the team

  • Build trust, psychological safety and strong collaboration within a highly technical team

  • Lead an introverted or specialist‑heavy team with empathy and proactive communication

  • Increase the visibility, impact and perceived value of the Data Team across EPI

  • Ensure governance, quality and responsible data use

    • Provide strategic guidance on data governance, GDPR, compliance and responsible data practices

    • Ensure data products (e.g. dashboards) are reliable, meaningful and aligned with business objectives

💻 Technology stack

  • Primary: DBT, Databricks, Tableau, AWS Kinesis, GitHub

  • Secondary: Kafka, Terraform, MongoDB, Event‑sourcing patterns

🕵🏻‍♀️ To succeed, you should meet at least 70% of these requirements

  • +8 years of experience in data, analytics or data product leadership, ideally having grown from an individual‑contributor role

  • Strong strategic thinking and execution skills, with a track record of turning strategy into tangible outcomes

  • Solid project and delivery management experience, including prioritisation, capacity planning and handling ad hoc requests

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including setting boundaries and structuring collaboration

  • Hands‑on understanding of how data engineering and analytics teams work in practice

  • High technical literacy in data and analytics, including:

    • Data architecture and pipelines

    • Analytical engineering and modern analytics workflows

    • Data quality practices and technical documentation

    • Core data products (e.g. P2P, e‑commerce or similar domains)

  • People leadership experience with a focus on trust, psychological safety and team enablement

  • Working understanding of Databricks dashboards, including creation, iteration and maintenance

  • Fluent in English (CEFR C1 or C2); proficiency in German, Dutch, French or other European languages is a plus

  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate between technical and non‑technical audiences

  • Experience in FinTech or a highly regulated, data‑driven environment

  • Exposure to data governance, GDPR, compliance and responsible data practices

  • Practical experience with Data Mesh or similar decentralized data approaches

  • Previous experience acting as Product Manager or Product Owner for data products

  • Background in organisations with complex stakeholder landscapes and scaling challenges

🪜 If this looks like you, the recruitment steps are:

  1. A first call with one of our recruiters

  2. An interview focused on the mission and your expertise

  3. Possibly, a business case or a tech assessment

  4. An interview focused on our company skills

  5. Hopefully, an offer you can’t refuse

⛔ Turn back if …

  • You prefer a purely individual‑contributor role and are not interested in leading a team and roadmap

  • You’re looking for an environment with no ambiguity and don’t want to shape processes or ways of working

  • You’re uncomfortable pushing back on stakeholders, setting clear boundaries and making trade‑offs visible

Otherwise apply!
