🚀 Be part of a movement to change the way Europe pays

In today’s digital Europe, payments still feel too complicated. Random delays, confusing rules, extra apps and accounts make it harder than it should be to pay and get paid.

The European Payments Initiative is changing that with Wero, a proudly European digital wallet to make payments easier, clearer and more secure. Online, in store, at home and across borders, with your money and data protected under European laws and regulations.

Wero is live in Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands and launching very soon in Luxembourg and Austria. Backed by 17 major banks and the two largest European acquirers, we’re building a brand new, proudly European payment system.

🔎 What's in it for you

  • Tired of working in highly fragmented tax environments with heavy legacy constraints? At EPI, you’ll help build a tax framework from the ground up in a fast-scaling fintech.

  • Want to move beyond pure compliance into strategic impact? This role combines tax structuring, advisory and business partnership in a pan-European setup.

  • Looking for visibility and influence? As EPI’s tax expert, you’ll work directly with executive leadership on key business and expansion decisions.

At EPI, we embrace a remote-first culture, enabling our teams to work remotely from the country they are based in, with in-person meetings at least once a quarter to foster collaboration and connection.

🐝 About the team

You’ll report directly to the CFO and work closely with Finance, Legal and strategic stakeholders across Europe. As EPI’s lead tax expert, you’ll own all tax-related matters, partnering with external advisors, auditors and tax authorities while supporting leadership on structuring and growth decisions in a highly regulated payments environment.

💥 Your impact

  • Define and implement EPI’s tax strategy across multiple European jurisdictions to support business growth and expansion.

  • Ensure full compliance with corporate tax, VAT and other applicable tax regulations while operating in a fast-evolving fintech landscape.

  • Partner with Finance and Legal teams to optimize tax structuring for new products, markets and strategic partnerships.

  • Anticipate and manage tax risks arising from regulatory changes, cross-border operations and business transformation initiatives.

  • Lead relationships with external tax advisors, auditors and tax authorities across Europe.

  • Build scalable tax processes, controls and governance frameworks aligned with EPI’s growth ambitions.

  • Support executive decision-making by providing clear, pragmatic and business-oriented tax guidance.
