Senior Platform Engineer (CI/CD)

Software Engineering
Mechelen, Belgium
Every day, billions of financial transactions move through the world's banking system. Fraud hides in that data. Compliance failures lurk in it. Operational risks surface in it - often too late.
Vyntra exists to change that.
We're a global leader in real-time transaction intelligence, trusted by over 130 financial institutions across 60+ countries - from retail and private banks to Central Securities Depositories. Our platform gives banks the power to see, secure, and optimise every transaction as it happens.
The work is consequential. The technology is genuinely hard. And we're looking for an engineer who wants both.
The Role
This is a software engineering role, not an ops role. You'll join the Transaction Observability team in Mechelen and own the systems that let the team build, test, and ship software reliably. That means writing real code - designing CI/CD pipelines, building internal tooling, developing Kubernetes operators, contributing fixes to the product codebase, and automating everything that should never be done by hand twice.
You won't be starting from scratch. A dedicated Platform Engineering team provides the shared foundation - Kubernetes clusters, networking, cloud infrastructure, and base tooling - used across all product lines. Your job is to build on top of that: the application-specific CI/CD flows, deployment configurations, Helm charts, and tooling that the Transaction Observability product needs to get from code to customer.
The Helm chart and Kubernetes operator you build aren't internal plumbing - they ship to customers as part of the product.
Our stack: Java - Gradle – Kubernetes – Helm – GitHub Actions – ArgoCD - AWS
What You'll Do
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for a product used by top-tier financial institutions
- Build tooling and automation - including custom Kubernetes operators - in Java, Go, or Python
- Develop and maintain the product Helm chart and Kubernetes operator that ship to customers
- Dive into product code when needed: debug build failures at the source, contribute fixes, improve testability, hunt down flaky tests
- Evolve GitOps-based deployment workflows with ArgoCD and Helm on AWS
- Automate the full build and release lifecycle for the multi-module Java codebase
- Enable the QA team to build and run performance testing environments: provide the infrastructure, tooling, and automation they need to test at realistic scale
- Build and maintain cloud-based development and testing environments
- Raise the bar on engineering practices: champion CI/CD discipline, mentor teammates, make the paved road the easy road
What We're Looking For
- You're a software engineer first. You write clean, tested, maintainable code - you just happen to apply it to infrastructure and delivery problems
- Strong in Java and comfortable working in a polyglot environment (Python, Go, Bash - or willing to pick them up fast)
- Deep experience with Gradle, Kubernetes, and Helm
- Hands-on experience with at least one modern CI/CD platform (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, CircleCI, or similar)
- You understand what makes a build reproducible, a pipeline reliable, and a release boring
- You communicate clearly - you can explain a complex deployment process to a product engineer and make it stick
- You take ownership: when something you shipped breaks, you're already fixing it
Big Pluses
- Experience building Kubernetes operators
- Hands-on experience with performance testing infrastructure - designing test environments, enabling load/stress testing at scale, or working with tools like Gatling, JMeter, or k6
- Familiarity with ArgoCD or other GitOps tools
Why Vyntra
- Your code ships to production at some of the world's largest banks - this isn't internal tooling that nobody notices
- Small team, high ownership - you shape technical decisions, not just execute tickets
- You'll write software, not just YAML - Kubernetes operators, build plugins, automation frameworks
- Solid foundations - Platform Engineering handles the shared infrastructure so you can focus on product-level delivery problems
- AI-augmented development - we use Claude Code as part of our daily workflow, so you spend more time on hard problems and less on routine work Hybrid work with an office five minutes from Mechelen station
- International, English-speaking engineering team
