Functional Analyst (focus on functional testing)
Isabel Group
IT
Brussels, Belgium
Job description
Let’s shape the future of finance - together
At Isabel, we believe that real innovation happens when people and ideas connect
That’s why we’re building more than technology, we’re building an ecosystem.
One where every voice counts, and where your work can truly make a difference.
We’re looking for curious minds and collaborative builders. People who believe success means growing together, learning from each other, and challenging the status quo.
If that sounds like you, keep reading.
As a Functional Analyst you’ll join the Kube team (applications for verified corporate data, e.g. KYC/AML and ESG) and will design and execute test protocols to ensure our software products meet functional, performance, and compliance requirements. You work independently within established QA frameworks, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices and product quality.
What you’ll do
As Functional Analyst:
Collaborate with Product Managers, customers and development team to gather and clarify requirements
Translate business needs into clear, actionable specifications for software development and testing
Assess the impact of new requirements on existing systems and propose viable alternatives
Ensure stakeholder alignment throughout the analysis and delivery process
Contribute to Agile ceremonies and backlog refinement
Document workflows, use cases, and process diagrams to support development and decision-making
With primary focus on functional testing:
Review software specifications and controls in collaboration with Product and Development teams to ensure testability and clarity
Guarantee expected behavior as described in the acceptance criteria
Evaluate and maintain proper test scope from an acceptance point of view
Analyze test results, identify defects, and provide actionable feedback to development teams based on clearly documented facts
Ensure testing activities comply with internal risk frameworks and external regulatory requirements
Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and documentation
Present test findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making
In an active changing environment related to priorities, be flexible while being transparent on (potential) impact
Job requirements
What makes you a great fit
The role requires comfort with ambiguity and the ability to adapt quickly to changing needs & requirements. As the pace is high, expect to be context switching a lot. The hard part is aligning with multiple stakeholders and getting to the best compromise, so it’s key to get things clear and push towards decisions.
If you like complexity, you’ll love it here
If you don’t like stakeholder management, you’ll get confused and won’t be able to deliver
If you need a lot of babysitting to get the job done, you’ll hate it here
Must Have Expertise
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field/experience
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in software or business analysis (ideally in fintech or regulated environments)
Proficiency in requirements modelling techniques (e.g., ATDD, iteration modelling, model storming)
Minimum 3 years of experience in software testing
Proficiency in designing and executing test cases based on functional and non-functional requirements
Understanding Gherkin as acceptance requirements and where if fits in our test levels
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration of automated tests into development workflows
Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA)
Basic repository version management knowledge (GIT)
Solid knowledge of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies
Ability to work across platforms (Windows, Linux) and environments (web, mobile, API)
Awareness of compliance and risk frameworks relevant to software quality assurance

Key Competencies
Strong analytical and conceptual thinking and ability to break down complex systems and identify edge cases and failure points
