Role Overview

We are seeking an Analyst or Senior Analyst to join our Business Risk & Control Management team. The successful candidate's grade will be determined based on their experience, knowledge, and demonstrated capabilities.

Working in a fast-paced and evolving environment, you will be exposed to a broad range of risk and control activities, interacting with customers, operational teams, Compliance, and other stakeholders across the organisation. The role offers the opportunity to develop a strong understanding of financial crime risk management, contribute to the continuous enhancement of control processes, and make a tangible impact on the effectiveness of the Bank's control framework.

BRCM is a collaborative and knowledge-driven team that values accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development. Whether you are looking to deepen your expertise in AML and KYC or build a broader career in risk and control management, you will have the opportunity to expand your skills while contributing to a function that plays a critical role in protecting both the Bank and its customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Core Responsibilities (applicable to all successful candidates)
    • Executing first line of defence controls related to AML & KYC, including onboarding and periodic KYC reviews, transaction filtering, customer profiling, and related activities
    • Contacting customers via telephone and email to obtain supporting information and documentation
    • Identifying and reporting new and existing risks within AML & KYC domains
    • Escalating investigations to the Manager or Compliance Department when required
    • Reporting on executed controls to the Manager and Compliance function
    • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Manager
  • Additional Responsibilities for Senior Analyst Level
    • Leading training and knowledge-sharing sessions for Junior Analysts and Analysts
    • Performing quality assurance reviews of Junior Analyst and Analyst work.
    • Participating in IT development and enhancement projects impacting AML & KYC processes
    • Maintaining and updating BRCM procedures and documentation

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Fluency in Maltese and English
  • Strong organization, planning and prioritizing skills to execute the planned controls
  • Excellent eye for detail with heavy focus on accuracy and delivery
  • Excellent reactive capacities and problem-solving capacities
  • Capability to work autonomously and independently, but also have the awareness of when to consult the Manager or Compliance function
  • Experience in performing first line of defence controls (not necessarily in a dedicated control unit focused on AML/KYC, but even as part of Customer Service or similar operational roles)
  • Knowledge of IT systems related to AML/KYC will be considered as a plus
  • Proven track record in performing AML/KYC processes will be considered as a plus
