Finance Business Partner - Marketing

About the role:

As a Finance Business Partner - Marketing you will play a critical role in bridging Finance and Marketing. You will work closely with Marketing leadership and teams (Performance Marketing, Brand, CRM, Growth, and Product Marketing) to align financial strategies with marketing objectives and commercial priorities.

Your insights will ensure that marketing investments are backed by data, optimized budget allocation, and clear ROI measurement. You will enable data-driven decision-making across acquisition, retention, and brand initiatives, helping the business scale efficiently and profitably.

What you’ll do:

Capital Allocation & Performance Management

  • Own the capital allocation in collaboration with Marketing, supporting decisions on where to invest, scale, optimize, or reduce spend across channels, markets, and initiatives.

  • Partner with Marketing leadership to continuously assess the effectiveness and efficiency of marketing investments, ensuring capital is directed toward the highest-return opportunities.

  • Define and maintain performance management frameworks for Marketing, focusing on value creation, capital efficiency, and return on investment.

  • Challenge assumptions and outcomes constructively, ensuring marketing spend decisions are grounded in financial discipline and commercial logic.

    Executive Cadence & Decision Support

  • Establish and run a clear, repeatable performance cadence (weekly/monthly / quarterly) to provide transparency and alignment across the CEO, CFO, Marketing Director, and executive stakeholders.

  • Ensure senior leadership has a clear view on:
    - Marketing performance vs objectives
    - Return on marketing capital
    - Key trade-offs, risks, and opportunities

  • Translate complex performance data into clear executive narratives, enabling timely and confident decision-making at leadership level.

Strategic Financial Partnership

  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to Marketing leadership, supporting medium- and long-term growth strategies from a financial and value-creation perspective.

  • Provide guidance on investment prioritization across acquisition, retention, brand, and lifecycle initiatives, balancing short-term performance with long-term value.

  • Support strategic decisions around new channels, scaling strategies, tools, agencies, and operating models by assessing financial impact, scalability, and risk.

  • Collaborate with Product, Sales, and Data teams to ensure marketing investments are aligned with broader commercial and growth strategies.

Performance Reporting Oversight & Insight Enablement

  • Partner closely with the FP&R, which is responsible for preparing forecasts, budgets, and management reports related to Marketing.

  • Provide guidance and direction to FP&R on:
    - Key performance questions to address
    - Metrics and views required for effective decision-making
    - Interpretation of results and identification of performance drivers

  • Review and challenge marketing performance outputs to ensure insights are actionable, decision-oriented, and aligned with executive priorities.

  • Continuously improve how marketing performance is communicated, focusing on clarity, relevance, and impact rather than volume of reporting.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with Marketing leaders, acting as the primary Finance point of contact for marketing-related performance and investment topics.

  • Work closely with FP&R, Accounting, Controlling, and Treasury to ensure consistent understanding of marketing performance and financial implications.

  • Act as a bridge between Finance and Marketing, embedding accountability, transparency, and a performance-driven culture.

  • Influence stakeholders through insight, credibility, and constructive challenge rather than formal authority.

This role is perfect for you if you have:

  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to evaluate investment performance, returns, and trade-offs.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in finance business partnering, FP&A, or commercial finance, ideally with exposure to Marketing, Growth, or Commercial teams.

  • Proven experience in capital allocation, performance management, and executive-level decision support.

  • Strong understanding of marketing economics and performance metrics, including CAC, LTV, ROAS, funnel efficiency, cohort analysis, and payback periods.

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate data into clear executive insights.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence to challenge and influence senior leaders.

  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with BI tools and marketing analytics platforms is a plus.

  • Structured, proactive, and outcome-oriented mindset, with a focus on value creation rather than reporting.

  • Fluent English, written and spoken.

  • Master’s degree (e.g. MSc, MBA) from a leading international university or business school is considered a strong advantage.
