As we scale our platform and product offerings, we are seeking a Legal & Procurement Manager to play a critical role in defending Paynovate’s interests in the context of its activities.
Your Mission
As Legal & Procurement Manager, you will take ownership of Paynovate’s legal and contractual framework, currently overseen by the Head of Compliance, and bring it fully in-house. Your mission is to protect Paynovate’s interests, ensure compliance with financial sector regulations, and build efficient legal and procurement processes that support our growth.
You’ll manage all contractual aspects, from negotiation to renewal, while providing sound legal advice on new projects, partnerships, and business initiatives. You’ll also lead procurement activities, ensuring that supplier contracts align with Paynovate’s operational, commercial, and regulatory requirements.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on diverse and sometimes unconventional topics in a fast-evolving fintech environment, where regulation, innovation, and real-world complexity meet.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate all types of contracts (client, partner, supplier, and service agreements), ensuring Paynovate’s interests are fully protected.
- Review and validate legal documents proposed by external partners or providers, ensuring completeness, compliance, and alignment with internal standards and regulatory requirements
- Oversee NDAs and contractual documents requested by the Sales and Business Development teams.
- Design and implement a contract management process, including archiving, renewal tracking, and status monitoring.
- Manage and follow up on disputes and claims (with agents, clients, or providers), ensuring proper communication and documentation to satisfy regulatory expectations.
- Provide legal advice on new business opportunities, partnerships, and product developments in regulated contexts.
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments impacting the e-money and payment services industry.
Procurement Management
- Lead negotiations and contractual relationships with suppliers and external providers.
- Support operational teams in defining requirements and ensuring alignment with Paynovate’s procurement standards.
- Maintain a supplier database and oversee contract renewals, pricing, and service level performance.
- Ensure procurement and legal practices adhere to Paynovate’s compliance and risk management framework.

- Holds a Master’s degree in Law (or equivalent).
- Brings 5-10 years of experience in a legal and/or procurement role within the financial sector (experience in fintech or payment services is a plus).
- Has a strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrates a proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts.
- Is experienced in setting up and improving internal legal or contract management processes.
- Is resilient, autonomous, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Possesses excellent communication, negotiation, and writing skills (French and English; Dutch is a plus).
- Has a structured, analytical, and pragmatic approach, with the confidence to defend Paynovate’s interests.
- Works collaboratively across teams and is comfortable navigating regulatory and operational complexity.
- Is proficient with Microsoft Office, and ideally familiar with contract management tools.
