As we scale our acquiring activities, we are facing an important challenge: ensuring initiatives are properly scoped, detailed, and actually delivered.

To support this, we are looking for a freelance Business Analyst who goes beyond documentation, someone who dives into the details and works closely with engineering to make things happen.

Your Mission

You will take ownership of the analysis, scoping, and follow-up of key acquiring initiatives, ensuring they are clearly defined and successfully delivered.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused freelance role (6 months), where you will work closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations to move critical topics forward.
You will act as a bridge between teams, ensuring clarity in requirements and continuity from idea to delivery, with a strong focus on making things happen.

Key initiatives (first priorities)

You will contribute to, and help drive, several high-impact initiatives, including:

• Automating reconciliation for direct acquiring flows (Mastercard, Visa, UPI), ensuring accuracy, traceability, and scalability
• Strengthening reconciliation controls across all acquiring flows, including interchange and scheme fees validation
• Improving platform stability and availability (monitoring, alerting, resilience mechanisms)
• Supporting the integration of Wero as part of our expanding payment method offering
• Extending e-commerce capabilities to support business growth while maintaining control and reliability

You are expected to go into the details of these topics and ensure they are properly scoped, structured, and delivered with engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Analyse and specify

• Deep dive into acquiring flows (payments, reconciliation, settlement, payouts)
• Gather, challenge, and structure business and operational requirements
• Translate needs into clear, actionable specifications (user stories, flows, acceptance criteria)

Drive delivery

• Work closely with engineering throughout delivery
• Clarify requirements, follow progress, and unblock issues
• Manage dependencies and ensure alignment across teams

Ensure end-to-end ownership

• Maintain continuity from initial analysis to delivery
• Validate that delivered features meet expectations
• Support testing, validation, and rollout when needed

Bring structure

• Improve how initiatives are scoped and documented
• Ensure knowledge is captured and reusable across teams

We’re looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Business Analyst who thrives on turning complexity into clear execution, and making sure things actually get delivered, with a strong understanding of acquiring and payment ecosystems, including:

• The 4-party model and roles (issuer, acquirer, scheme, merchant)
• Key acquiring concepts:
  merchant onboarding, terminal management, transaction lifecycle (authorisation, clearing, settlement), reconciliation
• Fraud and chargeback processes
• Differences between PayFacs and acquirers
• Experience with API-based integrations
• Familiarity with POS and e-commerce payment flows
• Understanding of card schemes (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)

On top, you:

• Have 3-6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst (or similar role) in payments, fintech, or acquiring
• Are comfortable working on complex systems and writing clear, actionable specifications
• Are used to working closely with engineers (APIs, integrations, system flows) and can bridge business and technical discussions
• Take ownership beyond documentation and ensure topics move forward to delivery
• Are proactive, structured, and able to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment
• Are available to start quickly on a freelance basis
• Can operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
• Speak English fluently, French or Dutch is a plus
• Are available to start quickly on a freelance basis
