Why Paynovate?

Paynovate is a Belgium based fintech with more than 80 talented employees. We’re building a company where dreams are shaped, where bold initiatives are taken, where your leadership, ownership and ability to follow-through are valued. As a growing e-money institution, we are bringing payment solutions to the next level, and you could be a part of that. As we scale our platform and product offerings, we are seeking a Financial Crime Operations Analyst to help strengthen and scale our first line of defense against financial crime risks.

Your Mission

As a Financial Crime Operations Analyst, you will play a key role in strengthening Paynovate’s first line of defence against fraud, AML risks and financial crime threats. Positioned between Operations and Compliance, you will investigate suspicious activities, assess transaction behaviours, and contribute to building a strong, scalable and regulator-ready financial crime framework.

This role is designed to reinforce the 1st Line of Defence by bringing stronger operational risk ownership and financial crime expertise into our day-to-day activities. It is not a simple “review and escalate” position. We are looking for someone who can think critically, connect risk signals, make sound operational decisions, and contribute to continuously improving our controls, tools and processes as the function continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and investigate alerts generated by transaction monitoring and fraud detection systems
  • Analyse transaction flows, customer behaviour and risk indicators to identify suspicious activity or fraud patterns
  • Make risk-based decisions regarding case closure, account restrictions or escalation, with clear and well-documented rationale
  • Identify gaps, trends or emerging risks related to fraud, misuse or AML activities
  • Write accurate, clear and audit-ready case documentation
  • Collaborate closely with Compliance teams on complex investigations and sensitive cases
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of monitoring rules, operational processes and fraud detection controls
  • Support investigations related to law enforcement or police requests in coordination with Compliance and Financial Crime teams

Is This You?

At Paynovate, we focus on positioning the right talent in the right roles, empowering our people to drive the business forward. We seek someone who:

  • Has 3 to 5 years of experience in AML, fraud prevention, transaction monitoring or financial crime operations within a fintech, EMI, bank or related environment
  • Holds a background in Criminology, Law, Finance, Engineering or another relevant field
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and make decisions under uncertainty
  • Understands the balance between operational efficiency, regulatory expectations and business realities
  • Is proactive, takes ownership and challenges existing processes when improvements are needed
  • Is familiar with transaction monitoring, fraud prevention or KYC tools (experience with SEON is a strong asset)
  • Has strong written communication skills and is able to clearly document and justify decisions
  • Has a strong sense of urgency and enjoys working in evolving and fast-paced environments
  • Speaks and writes fluent English; French or Dutch is required, and additional European languages are considered an asset
  • Relevant certifications in AML, fraud or financial crime are considered a plus

What We Offer

An amazing job in a stimulating, profitable and fast-growing sector. Payment solutions is a complex and constantly evolving field, where innovation is key.

  • A role where your impact will be tangible. We are a company of owners and believe in empowering people to their full potential.
  • A team of talented, motivated and thoughtful individuals, coming together as one to fulfil a common goal – delivering smart, simple and innovative solutions to our clients.
  • A dynamic environment full of growth and development opportunities, where your career could take its next major turn. People are our greatest strength, and as an employer, we choose to deliver to you as much you deliver to us.
  • A modern and friendly working environment, where work-life balance is enforced as a structural part of the organisation (hello hybrid work!).
  • And of course, a comprehensive and market-competitive salary package: 32 days holiday, mobility budget, meal vouchers, health and group insurance, phone, homeworking policy and allowance.

If you’re excited about this new challenge, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today at Paynovate!
