Why Paynovate?

Paynovate is a Belgium based fintech with more than 80 talented employees. We’re building a company where dreams are shaped, where bold initiatives are taken, where your leadership, ownership and ability to follow-through are valued. As a growing e-money institution, we are bringing payment solutions to the next level, and you could be a part of that.

Your Mission

At Paynovate, money moves across issuing, acquiring and payment account activities every day. As a regulated e-money institution, we have a critical responsibility: ensuring that every transaction, balance and client fund can be accurately tracked, reconciled and protected.

We're looking for a Payments Control Manager to take ownership of this area and help strengthen our control environment as we continue to grow.

This is not a traditional finance role. It sits at the crossroads of Payments, Operations, Finance, Data and Compliance, with broad visibility across the company's financial flows and regulated activities.

You will oversee our reconciliation and safeguarding activities, lead our current Reconciliation Analyst, and play a key role in improving how we monitor, control and protect financial flows across the business

Key Responsibilities

Own the integrity of our financial flows

  • Oversee reconciliations across internal ledgers, banking partners, card schemes and payment systems
  • Investigate discrepancies, settlement breaks and operational anomalies
  • Monitor settlement flows, chargebacks, reserves and pending transactions
  • Ensure financial data remains accurate, traceable and audit-ready

Safeguard client funds

  • Oversee daily safeguarding controls and calculations
  • Ensure safeguarded balances are accurately monitored and reported
  • Identify risks, gaps or anomalies that could impact safeguarding obligations
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our safeguarding framework

Improve and scale our control environment

  • Strengthen reconciliation and control processes across issuing, acquiring and payment account activities
  • Work closely with Finance, Operations, IT, Data, Risk and Compliance teams
  • Drive process improvements, automation opportunities and control enhancements
  • Support audits, regulatory reviews and internal control activities

Lead and develop

  • Manage and support our Reconciliation Analyst
  • Help structure and scale reconciliation and safeguarding activities as the business grows
  • Act as a subject matter expert for reconciliation and safeguarding-related topics

    Is This You?

At Paynovate, we focus on positioning the right talent in the right roles, empowering our people to drive the business forward. We're looking for someone who understands how money moves within a regulated payments environment and enjoys solving complex operational and financial challenges.

You may currently be working as a:

    • Payment Operations Manager
    • Settlement Manager
    • Reconciliation Manager
    • Financial Operations Manager
    • Treasury Operations Manager
    • Payments Control Specialist

or in a similar role within fintech, payments, banking or financial services.

    Ideally, you'll bring:

    • Several years of experience within payments, fintech, banking or financial services environments
    • Experience within issuing, acquiring, payments or banking environments
    • Strong exposure to reconciliations, settlements, safeguarding activities or financial controls
    • Good understanding of card schemes, payment flows and settlement processes
    • Experience working in regulated financial services environments
    • Advanced Excel and SQL skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret large datasets
    • Experience supporting audits, regulatory reviews or control enhancement initiatives
    • A structured, analytical and problem-solving mindset
    • Experience improving operational processes and controls
    • Exposure to safeguarding, client funds or PSD2-related requirements is a strong plus
    • Professional proficiency in English is required. French and/or Dutch are considered strong assets.

    What We Offer

    • An amazing job in a stimulating, profitable and fast-growing sector. Payment solutions is a complex and constantly evolving field, where innovation is key.
    • A role where your impact will be tangible. We are a company of owners and believe in empowering people to their full potential.

    • A dynamic environment full of growth and development opportunities, where your career could take its next major turn. People are our greatest strength, and as an employer, we choose to deliver to you as much you deliver to us.
    • A modern and friendly working environment, where work-life balance is enforced as a structural part of the organisation (hello hybrid work!).
    • And of course, a comprehensive and market-competitive salary package: 32 days holiday, mobility budget, meal vouchers, health and group insurance, phone, homeworking policy and allowance.

If you’re excited about this new challenge, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today at Paynovate!
