Team Summary
Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) drives tangible, impactful and financial results for Visa's clients, including card issuers, acquirers, and merchants. Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, data analytics, brand management, marketing, operations and macroeconomics, VCA solves the most strategic problems for our clients.
The VCA team within Japan provides a comprehensive range of consulting services and solutions to our clients in Japan, that address unique challenges in areas such as strategic growth, profitability, risk management and digital strategy.
What a Risk Consulting Analyst does at Visa:
We are currently looking for a Risk Consulting Analyst to deliver consulting engagements for our clients in Japan, enabling portfolio growth and improved profitability across their payment businesses.
The Risk Consulting Analyst is responsible for part of delivery of Risk advisory services to Visa’s clients (Issuers, Acquirers and Merchants) across Credit Risk and Fraud Risk. The Risk Consulting Analyst will report to the Risk Consulting Manager of Visa Consulting and Analytics, VCA Japan, and will lead the Credit and Fraud Risk advisory Practice Area. This individual will leverage a variety of experience gained as within a bank and/or a specialized consulting firm to absorb expertise in both the Credit and Fraud Risk functional domain. We are looking for a motivated analytically minded leader with solid potential of using Risk expertise to unlock business value.
Typically, Risk advisory services will involve interacting with the client team and product team, gathering and managing project inputs, analyzing data to form conclusions and recommendations, developing and presenting compelling project reports and working with clients on executing recommendations. The full range of responsibilities are detailed below:
On a project-by-project basis:
- Support a team of experienced professionals in delivering strategic consulting services to key Visa clients.
- Develop a fact base by undertaking client interviews and analyzing client documentation or processes
- Analyze Visa and client data to benchmark client performance vs. industry averages to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities
- Support the development of client-specific presentations by adapting templates for unique client scenarios and needs.
- Support senior consultants in developing and delivering high-quality advisory solutions to clients, such as business strategy, product development & pricing, customer segmentation and customer experience improvement.
- Collaborate with data science team to leverage advanced data analytics capabilities
- Collaborate with the hub team, broader global team, or other functional teams to obtain specific subject matter expertise as needed
- Support implementation of VCA recommendations or client initiatives, using project management and problem-solving frameworks
Some Illustrative Projects:
- Authorization Optimization – Define optimal authorization strategy with balanced risk control measures
- Fraud Rule Optimization – On-behalf execution of fraud risk management to optimize performance
- Risk Diagnostic – Identify opportunities to optimize risk management
- Vulnerability Testing – Perform vulnerability test to identify necessary risk control measures
- Dispute Optimization – Enhance dispute management strategy with optimal operational performance.
- Line Management – Optimize credit line based on usage propensity and risk profile
- Collection Strategy – Design fit-for-purpose collection strategy with optimal conversion performance.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
What you will need:
Having already accumulated a variety of experience, you will be curious about the payments industry and keen to work alongside an experienced team to quickly gain a deeper understanding in the Credit and Fraud Risk advisory Practice Area. You will be client driven, comfortable managing a project end to end and relishing the opportunity to work closely with clients to influence their future performance.
Specific skills and experience you will bring are:
- Japanese and English language skills with experience in interpreting/translation (high level of fluency required in both English and Japanese)
- Client facing communication skills including the ability to handle technical Q&A with manager's oversight
- 3-5 years of experience in project management, business analysis, and/or process improvement
- Experience working on data-centric projects/products
- Proven track record and ability to collaborate cross-functionally and cross-regionally and to engage and influence stakeholders
- Willingness and ability to visit the client location occasionally, as needed.
- Interest and strong motivation to learn about payment risk management
- Quick in learning new things
- Knowledge of SQL or similar language or data science tool
- Trustworthy with the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity
- Drives for achieving superior end to end results, in a sustainable way
- Very client focused
- Able to coordinate with various stakeholders in an inclusive manner
What will also help:
- Knowledge and experience in risk management, especially payments risk management
- Experience in Hadoop databases.
- Strong academic credentials (Masters or bachelors from top-tier institution is preferred)
