Job Description
What you'll do
The engineer will support the Kubernetes and Service Mesh (Istio) lifecycle within the platform squad by:
- Creating and/or enhancing mechanisms to bootstrap
- Observe (monitoring)
- Maintain (including upgrades)
- Decommission these resources using infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native best practices across several clusters.
This is a remote position. A remote position does not require job duties be performed within proximity of a Visa office location. Remote positions may be required to be present at a Visa office with scheduled notice.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- The candidate must possess strong expertise in Kubernetes and Service Mesh (ideally, Istio), with proven experience supporting both day-to-day operations and business-driven initiatives.
- This role requires a hands-on approach to managing cloud-native infrastructure, with all tasks executed through Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)—preferably using Terraform—and aligned with GitOps methodologies within a fully automated CI/CD pipeline.
- A solid foundation in English communication is essential, as the role involves regular collaboration with team members located outside Brazil.
Desirable Qualifications
- Basic knowledge in script development
- Basic knowledge in AWS services (S3 Bucket, Dynamo's Table, IAM, EC2)
