Job Description

Summer Internship Programme

Our Summer Internship is an 11-week programme providing you the opportunity to experience all that Visa has to offer alongside completing challenging work, building your skillset, and networking with fellow interns and Visa employees. Throughout the internship you will work on BAU work within your team, be given an end-to-end project to complete and take part in a variety of trainings to increase your learning. You will also get the opportunity to take part in a global social impact case challenge as well as hearing from senior leaders through our Visa Executive Speaker Series.

The internship is just the beginning of what we hope will be a lasting career at Visa! If you are successful throughout your internship, you could even secure a graduate role with us when you finish university.

Team Description

Visa’s Europe Government Affairs team is focused on developing Visa's position on key policy issues facing the digital payments sector and engaging directly with policymakers.

The team is responsible for establishing Visa as a thought leader on key issues, maintaining critical external relationships and proactively aligning business initiatives with policy trends and public policy objectives.

The team monitors policy developments in the UK, Ireland and across Europe, and through sound research and analysis, develops content that helps shape the policy discourse. The team also provides advice to a number of internal stakeholder groups on both mature and emerging payments policy issues.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • We are looking for a self-starting intern to facilitate more agile ways of working.

  • You will be relied upon as a trusted resource for the team to undertake research, analyse policy, review documents, distil information into key insights and effectively communicate key findings.

  • You will have a good grasp of politics and/or economics and ideally a keen interest in industry developments pertaining to FinTech, payments and wider financial services.

Qualifications

  • Permanent authorisation to work in the U.K is a precondition of employment for this position. Home Office sponsorship requirement mean that Visa will not be in a position to sponsor applicants for work visas in connection with this position. Future sponsorship will not be considered.

  • Penultimate year of university, graduating in 2027 (please make sure this is clear from your CV)

  • Ability to work full time over the summer of 2026 (June/July-Aug/Sept)

  • Proactive, with experience of being a self-starter and having the willingness to learn

  • Enjoys agile working

  • Evidence of excellent communication skills

  • Personal presence and ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to senior executives and external business partners

  • Innovative and curious, positive and proactive – always looking for ways to do things better

  • Fluent in English
