The Team
The Government Affairs (GA) team shapes policy and regulation to drive business growth and advance Visa’s mission. As trusted advisors to governments and partners, we secure our license to operate and build the innovative, reliable, and secure payments ecosystem that fuels global digital commerce. Our regional teams engage directly with policymakers and institutions to influence the regulatory landscape. They ensure Visa can operate effectively while helping governments achieve their economic and social policy goals. Internally, we work closely with a wide range of in-country and regional functional teams to ensure our strategy is cohesive and effective.
The Role
We are seeking a proactive and strategic Manager for our Andean Government Affairs team based in Bogota. This role is crucial for aligning Visa's business objectives with public policy in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. You will support the engagement with government officials, policymakers, and regulators to advance the adoption of digital payments and support key government initiatives. The manager reports to the Head of Government Affairs for the Andean region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute effective government affairs strategies across the Andean region to support Visa's business goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key government stakeholders, industry associations, and non-governmental organizations.
- Monitor, analyze, and advise on the policy and regulatory landscape to protect and advance Visa's commercial interests.
- Identify and support new business opportunities and partnerships with government agencies, particularly in areas like financial inclusion and economic digitization.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Global Policy, Legal, Risk, Communications, and Social Impact and Sustainability, as well as Sales, Product, Commercial Solutions, to ensure a cohesive approach to government engagement.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
• J.D. with strong academic background and member in good standing of the Colombian Bar Association.
• 6 years of relevant work experience in a top law firm, regulatory agency, or global corporation, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
Preferred qualifications
• Understanding of the digital payments industry and its economic and social impact.
• Experience in the payments industry and financial law.
• Proven ability to analyze complex regulatory issues and provide strategic legal advice.
• Sharp political and business acumen.
• Creative and innovative approach to problem-solving.
• Fluency in Spanish and English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A motivated self-starter who excels both independently and as a collaborative team player.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Computer literacy
