The role of Product Manager is a key member of the Spend Clarity for Enterprise Product team, responsible for delivering the features that help evolve the product to be a market leading and compelling solution to ensure the success of the product in market. The role is an integral part of the collaboration between product and engineering teams to ensure the features delivered are fit for purpose and meet the business objectives.
Product Manager role at Visa:
Typically, the Product Manager role works within one Product domain and has a deep understanding of the product capabilities of that domain but also a general understanding of the product capabilities across the entire Spend Clarity Enterprise product suite. They work in close to collaboration with Senior Product Managers (SPMs) and Product Directors to understand the product strategy, market drivers and business goals and then execute the roadmap for the product domain. The PM role is to champion & be the voice of “why” and “what” in inward phases of product development, from design to delivery within daily engineering dialogue.
They are accountable for feature and product outcomes in alignment with product strategy, value proposition & client/market needs. They are responsible for understanding what is valuable to the business, and what is feasible from development perspective, facilitating the requirement definition and working closely with the engineering colleagues to prioritize and plan the development work. While not accountable for delivery team operations, the PM does monitor delivery progress and will actively communicate risks to Product Management leadership & Engineering leadership where necessary.
The Product Manager will also be involved in review/curation of any release notes and other Product documentation relevant to their Product domains.
Accountabilities:
Strategy, Planning and Prioritization
- Work with the Product Manager/Director to understand product area vision and goals, communicating with stakeholders and working with product engineering teams to ensure that the team maintains a cohesive vision and delivers outcomes that are aligned to goals
- Understand customer needs in collaboration with Product Management, leveraging customer sales, Account Management & support teams, market information and customer research
- Use your product knowledge along with market, customer and data insights to inform the feature backlog and solution designs.
- Taking high level business requirements, and working with the engineering teams/Solution architects and US to define optimal solutions that meet business requirements but also fit within our existing product designs to provide community solutions.
- Primary point of contact for developers to understand requirements, workflow, priorities and acceptance criteria.
- Manage product backlog, ensuring items are prioritized based on the overall strategy and business objectives
- Contribute to the Annual, half yearly and quarterly planning process for your allocated domain working in close collaboration with the Product Director to align on product priorities for the stream
- Collaborate effectively with engineering teams on planning/sequencing of work within the scrum framework to ensure alignment
- Strive to be a subject matter expert in your domain
Solution Delivery
- Contribute to product discovery, working closely with Product Directors, Architects, UX team and other stakeholders to establish a clear understanding of the target users’, pain points to ensure solutions meet the required product outcomes
- Stay abreast of strategic partners’ priorities• Monitor delivery of features and ensure any risks are communicated to relevant stakeholders, and work with delivery teams to mitigate risks where possible.
- Review outbound communications relating to product features, to ensure a high degree of quality and accuracy.
- Be the voice of Product with the delivery teams and daily engineering dialogue
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve target outcomes.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
- What you will need:
- 5+ years experience in Fintech software product development
- Experience in working in agile environments, with excellent understanding of modern product development and design processes
- Experience in working in cross functional and empowered teams
- Able to understand and clearly articulate the vision, strategy and business requirements of any items in the product backlog.
- Technical competence to be able to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g., architects, UX designers and development teams).
- Experience leading Product demo’s with internal stakeholders
- Facilitation skills, with the ability to conduct effective workshops and meetings.
- Experience in Fintech, cards, payments, and/or corporate accounting practices is preferred.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative fashion with internal technical stakeholders to drive successful product outcomes
