What’s it all about?
The Director of Internal Data & Analytics for Consumer Payments, covering the Product, Cross‑border, and Strategy teams, serves as the strategic lead for data transformation and democratization across these areas. The role is accountable for shaping, steering, and advancing data‑driven strategies that enable Visa’s Consumer Payments teams to meet both near‑term priorities and long‑term goals.
Acting as a trusted partner to stakeholders, the Director will leverage data, analytics, and advanced data science capabilities to support decision‑making, strengthen business performance, and enhance impact across the organisation. The position requires a strategic, analytically minded leader who can translate complex business challenges into clear, actionable insights while championing the adoption of data‑led ways of working. The candidate will also bring strong technical expertise, as the role includes an individual‑contributor component alongside its leadership responsibilities.

What We Expect Of You, Day To Day.
- Provide thought leadership to senior business leaders in the Europe Consumer Payments teams on data, analytics, data science capabilities, and business applications, unlocking the value of Visa’s unique data assets.
- Manage a team of 5+ data scientists.
- Understand and inform both strategic (3–5‑year horizon) and tactical (annual plan) priorities, develop clear roadmaps, and ensure their successful delivery.
- Champion innovative uses of data and analytics to address business challenges and influence internal stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to apply data science and AI/ML techniques to enhance existing products.
- Partner closely with the Global Consumer Payments Data & Analytics team to align, adopt, and inform global data solutions.
- Provide hands‑on leadership of data science and analytics projects, closely managing execution on a day-to-day basis
- Identify trends emerging from client work to help shape Visa’s data product development roadmap.
- Proactively identify opportunities to grow revenue in the region and support delivery of the business plan.
What we’re after…
- Extensive experience in data science, analytics or related quantitative areas.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience designing and scaling end‑to‑end machine‑learning pipelines, including feature engineering, model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Ability to go beyond delivering insights by building data, ML, and AI‑driven solutions and products that enable the business to make data‑led decisions.
- Experience monitoring the value of such solutions, whether through cost efficiency or revenue growth, is highly preferred.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum, and operating effectively within cross‑functional teams.
- Strong experience with DevOps practices, along with exposure to MLOps frameworks or at least one year of hands‑on MLOps experience.
- Strong familiarity with modern ML Ops practices, such as CI/CD for ML, automated retraining workflows, model governance, and observability.
- Proven ability to assess, evaluate, and integrate emerging technologies — including LLMs, generative AI, and graph analytics — into practical business solutions.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and delivering data‑driven insights.
- Background in payments, retail banking or merchant‑related industries is preferred.
- Proven ability to build, lead and motivate high‑performing teams across locations.
- Operates as an influential thought leader with strong stakeholder‑management skills.
- Collaborative, diplomatic and adaptable communication style, able to tailor insights to varied audiences.
- Strong consultative skills and proven ability to partner with business and sales teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and guide decision‑making.
- Highly analytical, impact‑oriented and rigorous problem‑solver.
- Proficiency in Python/Spark, SQL and large‑scale data processing.
- Experience using productivity and delivery tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Skilled in BI and data‑visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, economics) preferred.
- Strong understanding of advanced analytics and emerging data‑science techniques.
