Job Description
The Engineering Manager for the Localization team will lead the development of connected services to the Core platform for emerging Pismo markets. This role demands a strong focus on security, scalability, observability, and reliability, as the team is responsible for mission-critical components
The ideal candidate will combine technical leadership, architectural vision, and people management skills to guide the team through complex engineering challenges and deliver high-quality, resilient solutions while fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications: 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications: 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with 5+ years of relevant work experience. Advanced Degree (e.g., Master’s, MBA, JD, MD) with at least 2 years of relevant work experience. Alternatively, 8+ years of relevant work experience without a formal degree. Minimum of 3 years managing high-performing engineering teams. Minimum of 7 years of experience in software development as a software engineer, with significant experience in Java. For this role, you must be based within commutable distance from the Visa Warsaw office Language Skills: Proficiency in English at B2 level (Upper-Intermediate). Technical Skills: Strong self-motivation and adaptability in dynamic environments. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to make assertive decisions under pressure and navigate complex constraints. Ability to work independently in a remote, multicultural team environment. Strong background in Agile methodologies (Kanban, Scrum). Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL. Experience developing secure and scalable microservices. Experience with event-driven architecture. Experience with performance testing and monitoring tools. Technical expertise in Golang and/or Java, AWS, Terraform, containerization, testing, and code reviewing. Knowledge in payments or financial services industry. Knowledge in AWS. Knowledge in Golang.

- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
- Hire and onboard technical talent aligned with company culture and team goals.
- Own and develop the technical vision and architecture of the team.
- Ensure system stability, data integrity, and scalability of developed systems.
- Manage multiple development initiatives, including planning, prioritization, resource allocation, and execution using Agile methodologies.
- Implement and enforce best practices for software development, including coding standards, code reviews and CI/CD.
- Be responsible for the quality of the product with the use of automated tests and quality processes within the team.
- Maintain rigorous security standards and compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business requirements.
- Communicate plans, progress, risks, and technical decisions clearly and consistently to stakeholders.
- Lead production support and incident response, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal client impact.
- Establish and maintain robust observability practices, including metrics, distributed tracing, and log aggregation, to meet SLOs and SLAs.
