Job Description
The Product Specialist – Card Issuing & Processing is responsible for enabling, evolving, and scaling Pismo’s core card issuing and processing platform. This role acts as a deep platform and domain expert, supporting end‑to‑end card lifecycle capabilities across debit, credit, prepaid, and value‑added services.
Product Specialists work horizontally across squads and regions, partnering with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Solutioning, Implementation, and Client teams to ensure Pismo’s issuing and processing capabilities are market‑ready, scalable, compliant, and aligned with platform strategy. The role is key to supporting new market enablement, scheme readiness, complex client assessments, and cross‑product solutioning.

The Product Specialist – Card Issuing & Processing is responsible for enabling, evolving, and scaling Pismo’s core card issuing and processing platform. Key Responsibilities
Card Issuing & Processing Domain Expertise
- Act as a subject‑matter expert on card issuing and processing, including authorization flows, lifecycle events, limits, fees, clearing & settlement, tokenization touchpoints, and scheme rules.
- Support the evolution of Pismo’s core issuing platform, ensuring consistency, scalability, and reusability across products and markets.
- Analyze functional and non‑functional impacts of new features, schemes, and regulatory requirements on the processing platform.
- Partner with Product Managers and Engineering teams to support solution design, platform assessments, and cross‑squad initiatives related to issuing and processing.
- Contribute to defining MVP vs GA scope, readiness criteria, and rollout considerations for new issuing capabilities.
- Identify gaps and improvement opportunities in card processing flows based on client use cases, platform strategy, and market needs.
- Support new market and local scheme enablement, assessing impacts on card issuing flows, authorization, settlement, and compliance.
- Contribute to regulatory, functional, and operational assessments required for launching issuing products in new regions.
- Support scheme updates, regulatory changes, and industry trends that impact issuing and processing capabilities.
- Support Sales, Pre‑Sales, and Solutioning teams in client discussions, capability mapping, and technical clarifications related to issuing and processing.
- Act as a “first‑door” expert for complex client requirements involving card products, processing rules, and platform behavior.
- Help translate client needs into clear product and platform considerations.
- Ensure initiatives align with Pismo’s platform vision, product strategy, and governance frameworks.
- Support standardization of assessments, documentation, and decision frameworks related to issuing and processing.
- Work across regions and time zones to enable consistent platform behavior globally.
Qualifications
- Experience in the Product Development and Management market focused on Development and implementation of Card Issuing and Processing for global financial institutions.
- Strong experience in card issuing and processing platforms, payments, fintech, or financial services.
- Strong understanding of end‑to‑end card lifecycle (authorization, clearing, settlement, limits, fees, controls).
- Experience working with card schemes or payment networks (e.g., Visa, Mastercard or similar).
- Ability to collaborate with product, engineering, and commercial teams to solve complex platform problems.
- Comfortable supporting client‑facing discussions and translating business needs into product and platform context.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Experience supporting new market launches, scheme certifications, or regulatory assessments for issuing products.
- Exposure to tokenization, wallets, or value‑added services interacting with card issuing.
- Technical fluency to discuss APIs, integrations, data events, cloud solutions and processing flows.
- Experience working in global, multi‑region environments with regulated products.
- Familiarity with platform‑based product models and scalable architecture.
