What a Marketing Director does at Visa

The Marketing Director sets the strategic direction and orchestrates the seamless execution of Visa’s brand, solutions, and B2B client marketing agenda. This role calls for a seasoned marketing leader with strong expertise across brand leadership and marketing advisory, and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing for Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia within the Asia Pacific Marketing organization, the role is also accountable to the Country Manager, Indonesia.

As a member of the Indonesia Country Leadership Team, you will help accelerate business growth with a strong P&L mindset, optimizing marketing investment and team performance. You will champion brand consistency, local market relevance, and customer centricity by anticipating shifts in the payments ecosystem and evolving consumer needs. In addition, you will own Marketing Value‑Added Services (VAS) revenue and profitability, driving impact through a consultancy‑led approach that deepens client engagement with Visa’s marketing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Shape and lead the country’s brand marketing strategy, translating business priorities into impactful programs that advance Visa’s growth ambitions.
  • Own the delivery of Marketing Value‑Added Services (VAS) revenue and profitability, partnering closely with cross‑functional teams including VCA and the regional marketing organization in Singapore across sponsorship, creative, card design, and marketing advisory.
  • Lead the seamless execution of high‑impact consumer marketing initiatives, with a strong focus on merchant partnerships and point‑of‑sale brand visibility.
  • Act as the senior marketing voice and thought leader for Indonesia, shaping perspectives, influencing decisions, and inspiring confidence among internal leaders, clients, and ecosystem partners.
  • Collaborate closely with the regional marketing team in Singapore to ensure strategic alignment, consistency, and scale.
  • Partner with key issuers and ecosystem stakeholders to strengthen Visa’s presence and fair share across earned media channels.
  • Steward the marketing budget with discipline and rigor, ensuring full compliance with Visa’s financial policies while maximizing return on investment.
  • Drive robust campaign measurement and ROI tracking, establishing best‑in‑class reporting frameworks and continuously refining performance through an assess, test, and learn approach.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

What you will need

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business Management / Marketing or equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years of proven experience of related consumer and/or partner or client marketing management, top-tier Financial, Payments, Technology, Telco preferred
  • Passion for Visa business, technology innovation, with high energy and intelligence
  • Proven experience in being part of world-class creative work development process, support effective agency management process across creative, media, digital, and BTL activities
  • Effective project management skills and analytical thinking, as well as interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess high learning agility and experience managing teams
  • Demonstrates proven ability to work with clients across existing and new partners
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, matrixed organization while driving clarity, focus, and results.
  • Demonstrated ability to link marketing strategy to commercial outcomes and business performance
  • Comfort operating with senior stakeholders while maintaining accountability for local results
