Job Description

The Role

At Featurespace, we build software that protects our clients and their customers from fraud and financial crime. A critical part of our success is not just what we build, but how quickly, reliably and securely we can deploy it into real customer environments.

As Senior Staff Engineer in the Rapid Deployment team, you will be the senior technical authority responsible for enabling fast, repeatable and low‑risk deployment of ARIC across a wide range of environments. You will work side‑by‑side with the Senior Engineering Manager, jointly owning the success of the Rapid Deployment mission.

The Rapid Deployment Team Builds And Owns The Tooling, Automation And Technical Standards That Dramatically Reduce Deployment Time And Operational Risk, Allowing Customers To Adopt And Upgrade ARIC With Confidence Across

  • Public cloud environments (AWS initially, with a clear multi‑cloud roadmap)
  • Customer‑managed datacentres
  • Hybrid and security‑constrained environments

This role is deeply hands‑on, while also setting technical direction, mentoring engineers, and raising the overall engineering bar. You will take ownership of the hardest technical problems around packaging, configuration, upgrades, diagnostics and operability — ensuring solutions work in real customer estates, not just idealised cloud environments.

How You’ll Work

  • You will partner closely with the Senior Engineering Manager, shaping strategy together while owning technical execution and engineering quality.
  • You will work directly with Core Engineering teams producing ARIC artefacts (JARs), influencing how they are built so they are deployable, supportable and upgradeable.
  • You will collaborate with SRE, Security and customer‑facing teams to ensure deployments meet operational, regulatory and customer expectations.
  • You will remain hands‑on, leading by example through code, design and technical decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Act as the senior technical authority for the Rapid Deployment platform.
  • Design and evolve deployment architectures covering packaging, configuration, upgrades and rollback.
  • Make pragmatic technical trade‑offs that balance delivery speed, robustness, security and customer constraints.
  • Ensure deployment solutions work consistently across cloud, on‑prem and hybrid environments.

HandsOn Engineering

  • Build and maintain core deployment, installer and configuration tooling.
  • Write high‑quality, production‑ready code and automation.
  • Debug complex deployment and runtime issues across Linux‑based systems.
  • Improve diagnostics, observability and failure handling in deployment workflows.

Engineering Excellence

  • Define and promote best practices for rapid deployment, security and operability.
  • Review designs and code with a focus on long‑term maintainability and safety.
  • Reduce operational friction for customers and internal delivery teams.

Collaboration & Influence

  • Work closely with Engineering teams to influence how ARIC artefacts are produced.
  • Partner with Security and Compliance to ensure deployment designs meet required standards.
  • Communicate technical decisions clearly to both engineers and non‑engineering stakeholders.

Mentorship & Enablement

  • Mentor engineers within the Warsaw‑based Rapid Deployment team.
  • Raise the team’s Linux, systems and deployment engineering capability.
  • Help shape a culture of ownership, pragmatism and technical excellence.

Qualifications

Must Haves

  • Significant experience as a senior individual contributor (Staff / Senior Staff / Principal‑level).
  • Strong Linux systems background, including debugging production issues.
  • Hands‑on experience building deployment, installer or platform tooling.
  • Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS required; multi‑cloud strongly preferred).
  • Practical experience working with on‑prem or customer‑managed environments.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one high‑level language (e.g. Python).
  • Experience with automation, scripting, packaging and configuration management.
  • Ability to reason about complex systems and communicate solutions clearly.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with hybrid, air‑gapped or highly regulated environments.
  • Containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), where appropriate.
  • Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD experience.
  • Networking fundamentals (DNS, routing, firewalls).
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as PCI‑DSS, SOC2 or ISO27001.
  • Experience influencing technical direction beyond your immediate team.
  • Experience deploying, operating or integrating third‑party datastores such as ELK / OpenSearch, MongoDB, PostgreSQL or ClickHouse, in cloud, on‑prem or hybrid environments.

What We Value In This Role

  • Pragmatic engineering over theoretical purity.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, high‑impact problem spaces.
  • Strong ownership mindset — you see problems through to resolution.
  • Willingness to challenge designs constructively and improve outcomes.
  • Leading by example through code, collaboration and technical judgement.

Reporting Structure

  • Line Manager: Director of Platform Engineering
  • Senior Manager: CPTO
