Job Description

Team Summary

The IPVMC team drives Visa’s strategy across fast-growing, diverse markets, strengthening client, government and regulatory partnerships and accelerating innovation across consumer, commercial and digital payments.

Country Managers report to the SVP, GCM, IPVMC. Functional leads have a dual reporting line to this role and sit on the cluster leadership team.

The role reports to the Regional President, Asia Pacific and is a member of the Asia Pacific Leadership Team.

What a SVP, GCM, IPVMC Does At Visa

The Group Country Manager leads Visa’s IPVMC business, with full P&L accountability across the markets. The role also provides regional leadership for Digital Sales, Regional Sellers and Cobrand across Asia Pacific. This leader develops local initiatives and deploys global solutions to grow partnerships and deliver sustainable local and regional growth through:

Strategic and Operational Leadership

  • Set and deliver cluster strategy and key initiatives to achieve Core, VAS and CMS growth and performance targets.
  • Track payments, banking, fintech and data/technology trends and other factors that impact Visa’s business in IPVMC and Asia Pacific.
  • Provide thought leadership on market, client and regulatory developments; translate insights into clear points of view, executive narratives and external representation.
  • Set an AI-enabled growth agenda for the cluster (and for Digital Sales/Regional Sellers), prioritizing high-value use cases across sales, risk, operations and client experience.
  • Sponsor responsible AI adoption by setting governance expectations (risk, privacy, compliance and controls), ensuring model/third-party oversight, and building leadership alignment and capability.
  • Own executive-level risk and issue management across the cluster, leading crisis response and major client/regulatory escalations to protect Visa’s brand and business continuity.
  • Establish a strong operating rhythm (governance forums, QBRs, pipeline and performance reviews) to drive accountability, prioritization and execution across markets and functions.
  • Drive AI adoption at scale by ensuring data readiness, change management and capability-building, with clear KPIs for value (growth lift, productivity and risk reduction).
  • Prioritize growth opportunities and investments across IPVMC; reallocate resources as needed.
  • Lead engagement with governments, central banks and regulators across IPVMC.
  • Represent Visa with clients and stakeholders (sales, regulatory, CSR) at forums and in media/PR engagements.
  • Provide executive sponsorship for Digital Sales across Asia Pacific, aligning country strategies, segmentation and go-to-market priorities.
  • Set strategy for Regional Sellers to maximize cross-border opportunities and consistent regional coverage.
  • As an APLT member, partner with regional and global leaders to set and deliver Asia Pacific strategy.

Client and Stakeholder Partnerships

  • Build senior relationships across banks, associations, key merchants and prospective/existing fintech partners.
  • Keep client account plans current, aligned to functional priorities, and executed with discipline.
  • Partner with Government Engagement to position Visa’s role in growth, innovation and financial inclusion.

People Leadership and Management

  • Lead and grow the IPVMC team; hire to build capabilities and role-model Visa’s leadership principles.
  • Partner across functions (VCA, Product & Solutions, Marketing, Client Services, Risk, Finance, People, Government Engagement, Legal, Corporate Comms) to deliver the cluster agenda.
  • Attract, develop and retain talent; raise performance standards; ensure succession planning, engagement and development plans; build an inclusive culture.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

What you will need:

  • 20+ years’ experience, including 10+ years in commercial/sales leadership in payments or adjacent, tech-led sectors (e.g., digital/e-/m-commerce).
  • Proven client leadership and strategy execution, with the digital/customer agenda as a key driver of results.
  • Strong track record building senior client partnerships and developing new business.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and innovation; proven ability to win, grow and retain clients in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong B2B2C experience and knowledge of new distribution channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with government and regulators.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong judgment and analytics; able to synthesize complex issues; financially literate with strong risk management capability.
  • Consistent record of delivering against ambitious financial and business targets.
  • Collaborative executive presence with clients/partners to shape solutions and deepen relationships.
  • Experience in a global matrix; able to navigate complexity and empower local decision-making.
  • Inclusive leader with experience building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience leading change programs and driving cultural/transformational journeys.
  • Executive-level AI fluency, with experience leading AI-enabled transformation and operating with strong responsible AI, data and risk governance.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
