Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Visa’s payment applications and backend services.
• Contribute to enhancements and changes across existing application codebases.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code aligned with design specifications, security standards, Java/J2EE best practices, and industry design patterns.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, Platform, Operations, Release Engineering, and Agile teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in design and code reviews to ensure adherence to development standards and quality expectations.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand requirements, clarify use cases, and design appropriate technical solutions.
• Create technical documentation and operational procedures for deployment, maintenance, and support, and assist with troubleshooting production issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering standards, design patterns, and development methodologies.
• Contribute to proofs of concept and technical evaluations of new technologies, designs, and solutions.
• Use GenAI tools to improve productivity in coding, debugging, optimization, and testing.
• Support the integration of AI capabilities, including LLM- and MCP-based solutions, into engineering workflows and systems.

Essential Functions

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Enhance existing applications with a focus on maintainability, reusability, reliability, and performance.
• Write code aligned with design specifications, security standards, Java/J2EE best practices, and industry design patterns.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Participate in design and code reviews to maintain engineering quality and development standards.
• Create technical and operational documentation and support troubleshooting of production issues.
• Contribute to improvements in development standards, best practices, and technical solutions.
• Evaluate technologies, support proof of concepts, and contribute to continuous technical improvement.
• Use GenAI tools to improve productivity in coding, debugging, optimization, and testing.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MCA, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in application development.
  
  

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2+ years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters) or 1+ year of work experience with a Ph.D

• Minimum of 3+ years of overall work experience in Java related tech stack
• Proficiency in Java/J2EE/REST technologies and frameworks such as Spring, Spring MVC, JPA, and Hibernate.
• Experience in API development for producers and consumers, with strong attention to
• security, reliability, and engineering standards.
• Experience with databases such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL platforms.
• Experience with microservices architecture and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Good understanding of LLMs, agentic AI, MCP/tool-based workflows, and practical AI-assisted software engineering patterns.
• Familiarity with GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cline, and Copilot for Microsoft 365.
• Experience with software configuration management, build, and automation tools such as Git, Maven, Artifactory, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk, ClickHouse, or similar platforms for monitoring and issue triage.
• Experience with system design and technology stack upgrades to build highly available, secure, maintainable, high-performing, and scalable applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to write clean, coherent code aligned with established coding guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience working as part of an Agile/Scrum team.
