Job Description

The Senior Director, Value-Added Services (VAS) Communications is the strategic thought partner and communications execution leader for the Asia Pacific VAS organization. As the primary communications advisor to the AP VAS executive team, this role shapes and delivers clear, compelling narratives that translate business priorities into influence, credibility, and understanding across key internal and external stakeholders.

You are a commercially minded communications leader who leverages data, insights, and deep business understanding to advance business outcomes. With intellectual curiosity and a strong point of view, you use communications to accelerate product adoption, strengthen executive visibility, and drive meaningful impact.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Setting the strategic communications agenda for VAS in Asia Pacific, leading the planning and execution of integrated communications that position Visa’s value-added services at the forefront of the future of payments and commerce.
  • Defining and owning the VAS narrative, evolving storytelling beyond product features to industry insight, client outcomes, and market relevance. You will shape how VAS shows up externally and internally.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the VAS executive leadership team, providing strategic counsel on communications priorities including product initiatives, launches, reputation management, and executive positioning.
  • Driving executive influence through words, developing sharp talk tracks, keynote scripts, presentation narratives, and messaging that directly shape how senior leaders engage clients, partners, media, and industry forums.
  • Leading thought leadership and earned media efforts, identifying and securing credible, timely stories that earn attention. You will exercise strong editorial judgement and guide stakeholders toward angles that resonate externally.
  • Overseeing all communications programs for VAS, including product launches, announcements, thought leadership initiatives and internal advocacy, in close partnership with business leaders and cross‑functional teams.
  • Developing high‑impact content across channels and formats, including executive messaging, speeches, bylines, blogs, Q&As, client and industry presentations, and event materials.
  • Partnering closely with cross-functional teams to drive clarity, alignment, and connectivity across stakeholders, and acting as a connector to elevate the visibility and impact of VAS priorities.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

Extensive experience in senior, in‑house communications roles, preferably in payments technology or banking, with strong depth across product communications, earned media, executive visibility, and content leadership.

Proven ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, matrixed environments, partnering closely with senior leaders and navigating complex stakeholder dynamics.

Strong commercial and business acumen, with demonstrated curiosity and commitment to building expertise in products, technology, and industry trends.

Exceptional storytelling, writing, and executive communications skills, with sound judgement and the ability to influence at the most senior levels.

What Sets You Apart

You make commercial stories worth listening to. You know how to translate inherently commercial priorities into narratives that are relevant, credible, and engaging, without diluting the business intent.

You bring sound judgement and high EQ. You know when and how to challenge. You reframe ideas, influence direction, and elevate the work with confidence and tact.

You have deep payments or retail banking expertise. You understand the ecosystem, the language, and the stakes, and can engage senior stakeholders as a credible thought partner.

You have strong earned‑media instincts. You know what will land externally and what will not, and you guide stakeholders toward sharper, more newsworthy angles.

You are an exceptional writer and narrative builder. Clear, structured writing is a baseline. You create coherence and persuasion, not just content or slides.

You influence without authority. You navigate competing priorities, align diverse perspectives, and bring stakeholders with you, even in ambiguous situations.

You take ownership. You operate independently, embrace ambiguity, and are accountable for outcomes, not just deliverables.
