Job Description

Team Summary

The Tech Partnerships team is responsible for identifying, structuring, closing and managing strategic partnerships, alliances and commercial deals. Tech Partnerships Team works closely with Visa’s Product and Solutions teams to identify and pursue a new client base of Issuing & Acquiring platforms and various service providers and ecosystem participants in the payments industry in the market.

The role is based in Korea and reports to the Country Manager, Korea & Mongolia.

What a Senior Director, Tech Partnerships, Korea & Mongolia does at Visa

The Senior Director, Tech Partnerships position requires an experienced business development leader and sector expert capable of developing and managing Visa’s key strategic relationships and related programs with major commerce ecosystems, mobile network operator partners, messaging applications, software/hardware providers etc., in the market.

The Role Has 3 Focus Areas

  • Strategic Business Development Growth: Cultivate high-impact partnerships with Tech players; build strong ‘hunting’/ business development capabilities to target emerging fintechs / growth opportunities
  • Strong Client Engagement: Lead and build new innovative partnerships relationships positioning Visa as the partner of choice for innovation and growth
  • Deal Leadership: Orchestrate cross-functional teams to structure, negotiate, and deliver complex deals that deliver client value

The position will require a structured and programmatic approach to building and broadening relationships with key players in the market.

The Tech Partnerships team works closely with Visa’s Product and Solutions team, as well as other stakeholders such as Value Added Services, Visa Commercial Solutions, Risk, Finance, and Marketing etc. to execute partnership agreements and deliverables that are typically complex, strategic and cross-functional in nature.

Key responsibilities include

  • Building and leading the high-performing account management team, overseeing team development, territory mapping and technical delivery, with a focus on cultivating end-to-end solution design capabilities.
  • Bringing a structured and programmatic approach to partner business development and relationship management
  • Building and leading the execution and management of a deal portfolio to deliver against financial targets agreed/approved in deal negotiation
  • Leading the development of proposals by working with various internal stakeholders and negotiating contractual relationships with strategic partners
  • Identifying tech partners (payments participants, software providers, hardware providers, specialty service providers etc.) to expand distribution of Visa products.
  • Continuously reviewing client and market landscape and recommending, developing, and implementing new and creative approaches that ensure that the client’s business objectives are met as well as growing the Visa business
  • Engage and influence technical decision-makers at key clients and leverage exceptional presentation & whiteboarding capabilities to represent Visa in industry forums, deliver technical solution speeches, and collaborate with client product and engineering teams to whiteboard end-to-end solution architectures.
  • Collaborate closely with local and global products, engineering, value add service team to align on solution roadmap, coordinate resources and ensure compliance with global technical standards.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

What you will need:

  • 15+ years building, scaling, and monetizing partnerships with digital-first companies / tech platforms
  • Demonstrated success in business development, solution development and commercialization, account management.
  • Experience building sound business cases, designing payments solutions relevant to the market, and delivering results within budget.
  • Fluency in new tech (e.g., Crypto)
  • Fluency in eliciting client’s needs to help derive customer flows and journeys: Be a solution integrator to move from strategic insights to process to technology solutions
  • Fluency in approach to selling to Techs and understanding the economic and strategic motivations of Tech players
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue acceleration and relationships deepening with new product offerings
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen and technical expertise in the development of integrated solutions spanning multiple product categories (e.g., mobile, e-commerce).
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and the aptitude to think creatively and identify new ways to innovate and differentiate products with evidence of tangible business results
  • Ability to inspire and influence others without direct management responsibility
  • A high level of professionalism and leadership skills to build business relationships, trust and respect with business partners and suppliers
  • Hands-on, entrepreneurial and nimble, while also able to navigate a matrixed environment.
  • Track record of leading and developing people with a proven ability to attract, hire and train top talent.
  • Embody high levels of learning-agility with a real interest in the Big Tech and payments ecosystem and a ‘technology / digital-first’ approach
  • Experience in payments processing or technical implementations in multi-stakeholder environment (banking or payments focus preferred).
  • Positive team player with proven ability to project manage complex projects with multiple stakeholder’s and fluid schedules.
  • Strong listening, communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
