Job Description
The Analyst will be a member of Visa's Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Interchange and Pricing Strategy Team, which is responsible for development of pricing and interchange strategies for Visa’s business in the LAC region. The position will report to the Sr. Director of LAC Interchange and will be based in Bogota, with some travel expected.
Essential Functions
Manage the process of rebalancing interchange among clients by querying large databases to obtain the data necessary, performing calculation of manual interchange adjustments, and preparing materials for approval, communication and implementation of the manual interchange adjustments by issuer, acquirer, and product and channel as necessary.
Evaluate interchange opportunities that are aimed to improve acceptance, increase issuance and drive payment volume growth. Build financial cost-benefit analyses and modeling to determine impacts for issuers, acquirers, merchants and Visa using VisaNet data.
Support the development of rigorous, fact-based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations.
Perform periodic validations of interchange compliance with regulatory requirements.
Validate correct implementation of interchange programs in VisaNet.
Perform periodic revision of strategic merchant programs and review qualification of merchants for the program. Prepare and present the materials needed for approval of the proposed changes. Act as liaison between sales and systems team to activate and deactivate merchants in the program.
Identify areas for process improvement, prepare recommendations for the team, and implement changes according to the plan approved by management.
Communicate calculations, analyses and recommendations in a clear, concise and impactful way.
Support the publication of changes of Visa interchange rates. Provide Visa client-facing staff, interchange rates and qualification criteria as well as field additional ad-hoc questions, requests and analysis on interchange.
Work with the Global Interchange Compliance team on the interchange compliance program to ensure that clients are qualifying for the correct interchange rates.
Develop and update reports and dashboards to evaluate performance of interchange rates.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
- Ability to develop content independently and prioritize workflow, and to adapt to changes in priorities quickly.
- Ability to prioritize deliverables and projects to meet timelines efficiently and ability to adapt to changes in priorities quickly.
- Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and able to meet deadlines.
- Quick-thinker, fast learner, wide general knowledge, problem solver.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to structure and analyze sophisticated financial modeling. Good business acumen to orient data analysis to business needs.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to interact and build credibility with functional and regional stakeholders within Visa.
- Self-starter, team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, with excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities.
- Previous experience in the payments industry a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish required, Portuguese a plus.
