Job Description

The Reliability Engineering Automation team prides itself in keeping Visa systems up and secure, catering to the 24*7 needs of the business. The team uses AI to aggregate observational data (from monitoring systems output, job logs, syslog, etc.) and data from ticketing, incident, and event management system data to produce a virtuous circle of continuous insights yielding continuous improvements and fixes. Sr. Consultan Software Engineer, a highly motivated senior experienced individual contributor, responsible for innovative planning, designing and developing effective solutions in accordance with industry standards on best web development practices. As part of the team, you will be required to own key modules, perform code and design AI architectural reviews, suggest best practices and implement design and development standards. The role is a senior consultant who has the passion to solve problems, factor old codes, learn and pick up new technologies like generative AI, chatops, LLM, Onprem models. Model QA. The role will also be required to lead implementations on key modules and mentor junior team members,

The Opportunity:

This role requires an experienced GenAI engineer with a passion for working on LLM-based applications. The team is tasked with building key GenAI applications and scalable pipelines. The successful candidate should have a proven track record of developing multiple GenAI applications and be adept at managing the entire spectrum of GenAI application development while leading multiple workstreams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and delivering specific project deliverables as a Senior GenAI Engineer
  • Providing guidance to the engineering team on building new LLM applications and leveraging existing GenAI applications
  • Improving the productivity of the engineering organization by infusing GenAI into our coding standards and practices.
  • Acting as the GenAI projects design authority
  • Shaping best practices and methodologies within the team

This role involves 70% GenAI and 30% Core automation and application development. The successful candidate should be open to working on infrastructure automation development to understand the current processes and suggest enhancements to improve productivity using LLM models. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong AI engineering credentials to increase their knowledge and experience in the payments industry.

The Work itself:

  • Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa’s internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability
  • Collaborate multi-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings
  • Actively contribute to product quality improvements, valuable service technology, and new business flows in diverse agile squads
  • Develop robust and scalable products intended for a myriad of customers including end-user merchants, b2b, and business to government solutions.
  • Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later Technology

Essential Functions:

  • Works directly with product owners to gather and refine requirements across products, adding and taking into account existing tools and solutions across the organization.
  • Develops and designs advanced architect solutions that are robust and scalable, considering integrations with other solutions across the internal technical ecosystem.
  • Provides domain expertise on the development of technical documentation of solutions and contributes to standard processes in technical documentation as needed.
  • Plays a key role in the development and delivery of new features across products from end-to-end.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
• 11 or more years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electronics/ Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline is required
• Strong knowledge of AI and data technologies, with expertise in Python
• Experience in using machine learning technologies such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in developing scalable AI pipelines and integrating models into real-time systems.
• Proven track record of managing and executing multiple high-impact LLM based projects, balancing delivery speed with quality.
• Able to showcase the productivity improvement by collecting relevant metrics.
• Self-driven and act as a leader in the GenAI space within the department.
• Act as a mentor to the rest of the developers to leverage existing and new GenAI toolsets.
• Ability to communicate complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Spearhead development, embedding, automation, and operation of scalable AI applications.
• Ensure technical quality and reliability of AI solutions through rigorous testing, validation, and implementing frameworks for scalable data ingestion.
• Optimize AI application performance and efficiency.
• Collaborate across teams to drive AI innovation, while expanding your expertise within an experienced, inclusive, and international team.
• Extensive relevant mid-level work experience
• Proficient in Python, software development, and application of AI models.
• Highly skilled in realizing the full potential of LLM-based AI frameworks.
• Hands on experience on Java and Angular is preferred
• Ability to take ownership of open ended and highly complex problems and drive them to completion
• Ability to work effectively on multiple concurrent assignments with both AI and non-AI applications projects
