The Opportunity
We are looking for talented, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Visa Software Engineer - DevOps, you will automate build, test, and deployment processes using CI/CD tools, manage version control systems, and write scripts to streamline repetitive tasks. With a foundational understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, you will help deploy and manage applications in cloud environments. Additionally, you will monitor system performance using tools like Prometheus and Grafana, troubleshoot deployment issues, and closely collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and continuous improvement of the software development lifecycle.
Essential Functions
- Automate repetitive tasks and streamline processes to significantly reduce manual effort and improve overall efficiency through scripting and tools.
- Collaborate with Development and Quality Assurance (QA) teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, enabling early detection of defects and rapid feedback on code changes to accelerate development cycles and maintain high-quality standards.
- Implement comprehensive code scanning, code analysis, and code coverage tools into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Checkmarx, SonarQube, and Cppcheck to ensure that the code is of high quality, secure, and well-tested before it is deployed to production.
- Design and implement containerization strategies within CI/CD pipelines to ensure consistency, scalability, efficiency, and portability by leveraging tools like Docker and Kubernetes to automate workflows, enhance collaboration, and enable rapid, reliable software delivery.
- Assist in designing and maintaining scalable, flexible, and reliable cloud environments for development and testing utilizing cloud platforms to optimize infrastructure performance, ensure high availability, and support continuous integration and deployment processes.
- Create and maintain dashboards using Grafana, Prometheus, and Splunk to proactively monitor system health and performance and ensure high availability and reliability of critical applications.
- Assist with release management activities, including planning, scheduling, tracking, coordination and communication, to ensure timely completion of release activities.
The Skills You Bring
- Energy and Experience: A growth mindset that is curious and passionate about technologies and enjoys challenging projects on a global scale
- Challenge the Status Quo: Comfort in pushing the boundaries, “hacking” beyond traditional solutions
- Language Expertise: Expertise in one or more general scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, Groovy, Node.js)
- Builder: Experience building and deploying modern services and web applications with quality and scalability
- Learner: Constant drive to learn new technologies such as Angular, React, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
- Partnership: Experience collaborating with Development, Test, Operations, and Cyber Security teams
**We do not expect that any single candidate would fulfill all of these characteristics. For instance, we have exciting team members who are really focused on building scalable systems but didn’t work with payments technology or web applications before joining Visa.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
