Job Description
The VP will be a key member of Visa's Strategy Team, and a direct advisor to the Mexico Leadership Team.
He/she will be responsible for leading corporate strategy projects and developing actionable recommendations in response to marketplace and competitor moves. Projects will span Visa Inc.'s corporate strategy, business development, and corporate strategic initiatives. The detailed scope of functions should be as follows:
Strategy
Design strategies that accelerate Visa´s growth, build unique and innovative solutions and generate tangible impact on Visa’s performance. Lead the PMO to ensure accurate and strategic management of the key projects. Lead annual business planning cycle to develop integrated plans to support revenue growth targets and ensure optimal deployment of investments. Partner with the Leadership Team to deliver on key priority outcomes for the function, assisting where necessary. Play an active role on deal shaping for relevant commercial deals and strategic partnerships, including the new solutions development, M&A and ventures investment. Be a thought leader on key issues affecting the payments, consumer and merchant ecosystem. Stay abreast of all major industry and regulatory initiatives and alert the Group Country Manager to emerging concerns and issues. Lead the evaluation of market share across client segments (incumbers, cooperatives, digital banks) and products. Supervise the work of external consultants. Lead and contribute to pan-regional strategy.
Pricing and IRF
Lead pricing and domestic interchange rates discussions according to the market needs, aligning with solutions owners and client´s teams and taking proposals/ recommendations to the regional/global committees. Interact with regulators on topics related to pricing and domestic interchange. Support Sales teams on client´s interactions related to pricing, IRF and IRF compliance process. Represent the country on the Regional Pricing Committee. Work with CS/ Rules/ IRF Compliance regional and global teams to enhance cooperation and ensure Visa rules are being observed, and client requests/issuers are solved.
Commercial Planning and Orchestration
Orchestrate large-scale transformational deals (e.g., Jupiter), mobilize specialized Visa resources, design initial deal economics, prepare range of scenarios, evaluate initial investment required, in association with the local finance team. For other transactions, set a culture of pipeline execution and challenge the teams to improve sales productivity. Support solutions and sales team on the development of go-to-market strategies.
Work with Finance and HR on the investments and staffing committees guaranteeing the appropriate resources to deliver the strategic priorities and the financial results. Support Business Operations/ Strategy/ Investor Relations teams across region and global to enhance cooperation and ensure all companywide governance deadlines are met and proactively ensure materials are prepared ahead of time for the Chief Executive’s review.
Lead MSO process at the geography level, ensure that market dynamics and team initiatives are most accurately reflected in the forecast, guide capital orientation and measure incremental returns to best support long-term growth.
The position will be based in Mexico City, with some travel expected and intense interaction with the Regional team in Miami.
Essential Functions
- Lead major project workstreams related to Visa Inc.'s corporate strategy, marketplace & competitive intelligence, business development, or corporate initiatives
- Structure and solve business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues. Build out unique, creative and impactful solutions by integrating insights across Visa's many expert functional resources and supporting collaborative solution development.
- Develop rigorous, fact based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations. Ensure strategic and financial soundness and alignment for any recommendations
- Work closely with cross-functional and regional management teams on strategic projects, bringing timely and useful insight and analytical support
- Communicate recommendations to senior management, other executive, functional, or regional staff and management in a clear, concise and impactful way
- Provide continuous coaching and training to strategy teams.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• 12 or more years of work experience with a bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 15 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, PhD).
• Experience in and/or significant exposure to the payments industry preferred.
• Ability to independently lead and manage projects with multiple workstreams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of functional business problems.
• Ability to structure and manage complex cross-enterprise projects and processes with multiple stakeholders at both senior and junior levels.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor, attention to detail and ability to structure and analyze sophisticated financial modeling.
• Experience working with economic theories, strategic and prioritization frameworks, scenarios analysis, and competitive assessments. Knowledge of payment industry is highly preferred.
