Job Description

Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Data Engineer - Sr. Consultant (multiple openings) in Foster City, CA to

  • Responsible for building critical risk and fraud prevention applications and services at Visa. This includes idea generation, architecture, design, development, and testing of products, applications, and services that provide Visa clients with solutions to detect, prevent, and mitigate fraud for Visa and Visa client payment systems.
  • Design and build software solutions that leverage data to solve business problems.
  • Design brand-new software solutions, and at other times refactor existing functionality for performance and maintainability, while continuing to work on ways to increase efficiency and provide better solutions to our customers.
  • Lead hands-on software engineering activities, including POCs, design, documentation, development and testing of new functionality.
  • Position reports to the Foster City, California office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, followed by 10 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related data engineer, software engineer or systems analyst occupation.
  • Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, and 8 years of experience in the job offered or in a related data engineer, software engineer or systems analyst occupation.
  • Experience in the following required:
    • 3 years of experience in Spring or Hibernate;
    • 5 years of experience in REST and JSON;
    • 5 years of experience in React, Node, or JavaScript, HTML and CSS;
    • 5 years of experience in Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, and Delta Lake HIVE;
    • 5 years of experience in Scala, Java, and Python;
    • 5 years of experience in Shell Scripting, UNIX, or LINUX;
    • 5 years of experience in Informatica, SSIS, SSAS, SQL, or PL/SQL;
    • 5 years of experience in Dimensional and Data Modelling;
    • 5 years of experience in RDBMS, Oracle, MS SQL SERVER, and AZURE;
    • 5 years of experience in Agile development incorporating TDD, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery;
    • 5 years of experience in Developing large scale, enterprise class distributed system or subsystems that require high availability, low-latency, and strong data consistency computing;
    • 5 years of experience in Implementing solutions for low-latency, distributed services using open standard technologies.

Additional Information

Worksite: Foster City, CA

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $206,315.00 USD to $279,400.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus and equity.
