Job Description
PAM (Payment Authorization and Monitoring) Tools Team is seeking a Sr. Software Test Engineer / Test Automation Programmer who will be part of the development team responsible for understanding, defining, analyzing, and coding tools and utilities with a broad internal and external user base. We are seeking a Test Automation Engineer with 3-5 years of experience in Web Application Testing, having a strong understanding of testing frameworks like JUnit or TestNG, along with commanding expertise in Selenium and Playwright (preferred) for UI automation. The ideal candidate will have solid expertise in API testing using Rest Assured, including a deep understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, JSON/XML parsing, and schema validation. Experience in automating regression, sanity, smoke, and end-to-end test suites is essential, along with familiarity in cross-browser and cross-platform testing. The role requires proficiency with Maven or Gradle for dependency management and build automation, and a strong foundation in object-oriented programming (OOP) principles. Experience in design patterns for test automation (e.g., Page Object Model, Factory Pattern), data-driven testing, and parallel execution strategies is highly desirable. The successful candidate will become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within Visa, driving the development, automation, and implementation of the Visa Client Product Test Tool application. This would include all aspects such as analyzing, designing, coding and unit testing core modules of the new Online application and working with a global team of developers, SMEs and architects. The candidate would be a part of a high-performance global team responsible for the delivery of features in Visa Client Product Test Tool application. As a key member of the delivery execution team, candidate would need to create scalable designs, write maintainable code, reusable components/services/utilities, and test cases. Qualifications include good organizational skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good time management skills, ability to work independently, and effectively communicate with team members. The candidate must be capable of working in all phases of the application system development life cycle. The successful candidate will become a recognized Subject Matter Expert within Visa, responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of Visa Client Product Test Tool application.
Key Responsibilities
Create test plans, test cases, and test scripts
Execute and report on the full testing suite of both manual and automated tests
Develop and maintain UI automation scripts using Java, Selenium, and Playwright
Ensure the robustness and reusability of the automation frameworks
Create and manage API automation scripts using Java and Rest Assured
Validate and verify APIs for functionality, reliability, performance, and security
Configure and manage Jenkins pipelines for continuous integration and deployment
Configure and maintain automation jobs on remote machines via Jenkins
Utilize Git and GitHub for version control, branching, and merging
Collaborate with team members through code reviews and pull requests
Setup, configure, and maintain test environments
Participate in deploying code to QA servers on Linux systems
Troubleshoot and resolve issues on Linux systems as necessary
Write and execute SQL queries to validate data integrity and perform backend testing
Collaborate with the development team to ensure proper database structure and indexing
Work closely with both Development and QA teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery
Participate actively in all phases of the development process, including planning, design, implementation, and testing
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code
Follow best practices for coding, automation, and framework design
Work effectively with test lead and test engineers and acquire technical guidance from peers as appropriate
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts, experience with Java collections, exceptions, and file I/O
- Strong understanding of testing frameworks like JUnit or TestNG
- Strong experience with Selenium and Playwright for UI automation
- Solid understanding of Rest Assured for API testing, understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, and JSON/XML parsing
- Familiarity with build tools like Maven or Gradle for project dependency management and build automation
- Strong expertise with Jenkins for CI/CD
- Competence in using Git and GitHub for source code management
- Familiarity with IDEs (e.g. Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ, etc.)
- Good understanding of Linux systems and command-line tools
- Proficiency in SQL for writing and executing queries
- Ability to work effectively in a DevOps environment where Dev and QA collaborate closely
- Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Constantly strive to learn new technologies and look for ways to stay up to date in this rapidly changing industry
