Job Description

Visa U.S.A. Inc., a Visa Inc. company, needs a Staff SW Engineer (multiple openings) in Austin, Texas to:

  • Responsible for the architecture, design, development, and implementation of software applications.
  • Evaluate and introduce technology tools and processes that enable Visa to develop products and solutions, to embrace business opportunities and/or improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement unified control center and monitoring tools to measure, monitor, and report on platform, data availability, utilization, capacity trend, and overall health metrics.
  • Formulate methods to enable consistent data loading and optimize data operations.
  • Monitor health of platforms, generate performance reports, and monitor and provide continuous improvements.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of projects, production support plans, and knowledge transfer for long-term supportability of upgrades, enhancements, and deployments.
  • Understand usage patterns and workload requirements of new projects.
  • Develop code and mentor junior developers to ensure deliverables are on time, within budget, and with good code quality.
  • Position reports to the Austin, Texas office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Employer will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a software engineer-related occupation.
  • Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related field, followed by 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a software engineer-related occupation.
  • Position requires experience in the following:
    • Programming Languages like Java, J2EE, Python, Spring Boot, Reactive Programming, Apache Camel, JDBC, and/ or Hibernate;
    • Front End Technologies like React JS, Angular JS, and/ or HTML;
    • Databases like MySQL, Oracle, DB2, Apache Cassandra, Mongo DB and ClickHouse;
    • Messaging Framework like Apache Kafka, or JMS(TIBCO and IBM MQ);
    • Streaming Frameworks like Kafka Streams, Apache Flink, Apache and/or Spark;
    • Application Servers like JBoss, WebSphere, WebLogic and Tomcat;
    • Operating Systems like Linux/Unix, Mac OS, and/or Windows;
    • Deployment Tools like Kubernetes, Docker, CICD, and/or Jenkins;
    • Logging Frameworks like ELK and/ or Splunk;
    • Monitoring Tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and/or Dynatrace;
    • GITHUB, JIRA, Tableau, Confluence, SonarQube;
    • Testing Frameworks like Test NG, Cucumber, and/or Junit/Mockito.

Additional Information

Worksite: Austin, Texas

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $163,550.00 to $199,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
