Job Description
The Senior Manager of Expense Data Products is responsible for delivering high-quality, governed, and cloud-ready data products across Expense, Procure-to-Pay (P2P), AP/AR, T&E, Supplier Spend, Accruals, and Close-support datasets. This role executes the Expense Data Product roadmap while working in tight partnership with the Director – Spend, Controls & Accounting Data Products, the Director of Finance Data Architecture & Modeling (IC), and the Finance Data Governance Director to ensure all expense data assets follow unified semantic models, governed definitions, and platform-wide standards set by the Senior Director, Finance Data Platform.
Initially, this is an individual-contributor leadership role with significant cross-functional influence.
Key Responsibilities:
Expense Data Product Execution:
- Own end-to-end execution for expense, P2P, AP/AR, supplier spend, and T&E data products.
- Translate controllership, procurement, and FP&A requirements into scalable data product specifications and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure daily delivery aligns to the roadmap and priorities set with the Director – Spend/Controls/Accounting and the Senior Director.
- Deliver governed semantic layers for cost centers, expense categories, invoice/accrual flows, and supplier hierarchies.
Cross-Domain Coordination (critical):
Because this role sits under the Senior Director and works alongside other Directors, the Senior Manager must actively coordinate with:
Finance Data Architecture & Modeling Director
- Ensure all expense datasets follow canonical entity definitions, grain alignment, dimensional consistency, and semantic modeling patterns.
- Partner to design expense data structures that integrate with ledger, treasury, tax, and revenue models.
Finance Data Governance Director & Governance Team:
- Apply standardized definitions, glossary terms, and governed hierarchies to expense attributes.
- Implement data contracts, DQ rules, lineage, and access controls for supplier, invoice, and T&E data.
- Ensure consistency across global regions and prevent shadow logic in FP&A or Procurement.
Sr Manager, Data Product Management:
- Provide execution support for broader domain strategy and operating model.
- Ensure P2P → invoice → accrual → ledger continuity is consistent across all products.
- Align on sprint plans, delivery cycles, and performance metrics.
This cross-functional alignment is central to your oversight as Senior Director and ensures platform-wide consistency.
Cloud Modernization & Engineering Partnership:
- Lead modernization of expense-related Hadoop (Hive, Spark, HDFS) pipelines into AWS, Databricks, and Snowflake.
- Work with Data Engineering to build scalable, cost-efficient, and audit-ready expense pipelines.
- Ensure pipelines support fast close cycles, automated accrual logic, and supplier-spend insights.
Analytics & Reporting Enablement:
- Build and maintain certified Tableau and Power BI data sources for expense reporting, P2P cycle analytics, and supplier compliance.
- Partner with FP&A and Procurement analytics teams to eliminate shadow logic and decentralization.
- Ensure alignment of metrics across regions and business units.
Leadership Growth Path:
- Operate as an IC leader initially, expected to influence without direct people management.
- Shape talent needs, interviewing, onboarding, and mentoring future team members.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
