Job Description

Visa is seeking a Vice President, People Business Partner – North America to serve as a senior People leader and trusted advisor to executive leadership across the North America business. This role will shape and drive the people agenda for one of Visa’s most important and dynamic regions, translating business strategy into talent, organization, and leadership priorities that enable growth, transformation, and operational excellence at scale.

The VP, People Business Partner brings deep business acumen, strong organizational effectiveness expertise, and a modern, data- and AI-informed approach to workforce and talent strategy. Operating in a highly matrixed environment, this leader will influence decisions across organizational design, workforce planning, leadership effectiveness, succession, engagement, and change, while ensuring strong execution of core People processes with consistency, rigor, and fairness.

This role requires an enterprise mindset, exceptional judgment, and the ability to build trusted relationships across senior leaders, Centers of Excellence, and People partners. The ideal candidate is a strategic, pragmatic, and highly credible leader who can navigate complexity, drive alignment, and translate insight into action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior and executive leaders across the North America business to translate business strategy into an integrated people, talent, and organization agenda

  • Advise leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, talent strategy, and large-scale change management aligned to enterprise and regional priorities

  • Lead the successful execution of core People processes across the North America business, including performance management, promotion, compensation, talent reviews, and succession planning

  • Partner closely with People Centers of Excellence, including Talent, Total Rewards, Inclusion, People Analytics, Employee Relations, and Learning, to deliver integrated, high-impact solutions

  • Strengthen leadership effectiveness and organizational accountability through role clarity, decision effectiveness, and follow-through

  • Guide complex and sensitive people matters with sound judgment, discretion, and empathy

  • Use data, insights, and AI-enabled approaches to diagnose issues, inform decisions, and drive action related to engagement, capability, performance, and organizational health

  • Act as a visible and trusted leader within the People organization, modeling strong partnership, accountability, and operational excellence

  • Influence across a highly matrixed organization to balance enterprise consistency with the unique needs of the North America business

  • Help leaders build high-performing, inclusive organizations that are equipped to deliver against business priorities today and in the future

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD
  • Demonstrated success partnering with senior executives and C-suite leaders in a large-scale, highly matrixed organization
  • Proven ability to lead enterprise People processes, including performance, compensation, promotion, talent review, and succession planning, across complex organizations
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect people strategy to business priorities and measurable outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through complexity, ambiguity, and sustained organizational transformation
  • Experience using data and insights to diagnose organizational issues, influence decisions, and drive action
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility at the most senior levels

Preferred:

  • 15 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, PhD)
  • Experience in financial services, payments, technology, or other large-scale, fast-paced environments
  • Experience in data-rich, technology-enabled, or AI-forward environments
  • Experience partnering closely with Finance on workforce planning, investment decisions, and cost management
  • Experience supporting a regional business or operating in a North America-focused leadership role

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is 254,500.00 to 445,400.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
