Job Description
The Vice President of Product Strategy and Portfolio Management, Acceptance Solutions is responsible for developing and leading a global team that sets the strategic direction for Visa Acceptance Solutions’ product portfolio. This critical leadership role is vital to defining and prioritizing portfolio-wide product investments. We seek a transformational leader, with deep product management experience, to lead the growth and expansion of our product portfolio with a focus on developing mature product portfolio management practices. The leader will provide strategic guidance and direction for the Acceptance Solutions product management team to ensure tight linkages across market requirements and product priorities for the entire Acceptance Solutions product suite. The role requires collaboration with cross functional stakeholders including Visa technology teams, regional solutions teams, customer service and sales teams to introduce innovative acceptance solutions in a timely fashion. The leader should possess knowledge of both established and emerging payment flows and the solutions utilized by merchants, acquirers and payment service providers. This position will be responsible for fostering the growth of a high performing team of product managers and product architects. This role provides an exciting opportunity to lead a global team to collaborate with cross functional leaders on product innovation initiatives to drive growth.
This role is based in the San Franciso Bay Area and reports to the SVP, Global Head of Product for Visa Acceptance Solutions.
Responsibilities
- Drive the overall integrated strategy and roadmap for Visa’s Acceptance Solutions product portfolio. Lead stakeholder collaboration, product requirements definition, investment planning and business case development efforts for the global Acceptance Solutions product portfolio.
- Lead assessment of global product demand from clients, Visa regional teams, and other Visa business units to prioritize product investments, ensure product investments are optimized to meet client needs and drive growth.
- Collaborate with the Product Management, Technology, Sales/Account Management, Client Services, and Finance teams to create value for clients by accelerating the definition and delivery of Visa acceptance products.
- Manage global product requirements intake, partner with Product and Technology leaders on requirements definition, prioritization and execution of cross portfolio product deliverables required to meet business objectives of portfolio-wide initiatives.
- Create an environment that fosters a continuous focus on customer and market needs. Build buy-in from senior executives and key stakeholders with persuasive, data-driven analysis on customer needs, business value proposition, and revenue opportunity.
- Facilitate active engagement with regional solutions teams on new opportunity assessments including strategic fit, investment requirements and business case development, lead portfolio-wide buy, build, partner analysis.
- Ensure consistent execution of product plans that result in on-time and on-budget product delivery.
- Manage product portfolio planning and roadmap reviews with regional sales and solutions teams, institutionalize product portfolio management methodologies.
- Develop and grow a high-performing team, with deep payment industry knowledge and acceptance solutions expertise, lead and coach a team of product managers to solve challenging customer and market problems with innovative solutions that will propel Visa’s growth and leadership in payments.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 12 years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience leading a global, distributed, product management organization within a high growth business.
- Deep payments industry knowledge and acceptance solutions expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to drive product vision, strategy, and roadmap execution.
- Experience in managing a diverse product portfolio servicing multiple client segments and markets.
- Strong commercial acumen. Results oriented with the ability to prioritize across multiple initiatives.
- Expertise in managing large complex product development programs implemented via a global SaaS platform.
- Experience in product design of highly available, resilient, and scalable transaction-based systems.
- Experience working in Agile framework and matrixed organizations, applied experience in defining, implementing, and continually improving product management processes, utilizing industry best practice.
- Applied change management experience in the adoption of modern product management practices.
- Strong client collaboration and management skills, demonstrated leadership, organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in attracting, retaining, and developing teams of high-performing product managers within a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Executive presence with an ability to influence and work hands-on with product, technology, and other cross-functional team leaders.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 229,100.00 to 357,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
